What do you do with your guinea pigs when you go on holiday?

We are new GP owners and need to sort something out for them before we go away.

What do you all do?

We get friends to come and feed them. To be honest, if it was only guineas that we had I'd suggest that the friends took them to their house (as they're in an indoor cage anyway), but since there's the cat as well as various poultry and others someone would have to come here anyway.

I pay them well!

Our local cattery takes small pets like gps and rabbits you could check out any local to you.

Ours is just back from his week of pampering. They think he is the best entertainment ever and ask if we really want him back😀
Costs £7 a day all inclusive.

Short term we ask someone to drop in and feed them daily. Longer term family normally take them to their house

Out next door neighbour (who adores guinea pigs) comes over to do them. They also feed the cat. We do their cats in return.

Guinea pig boarding is big business! You take them to their place and everything is provided. Costs between £4 and an eye watering £9 per day. DD fancies doing this as a little pay time job but we don't have the space.

We have a pet holiday home in the next road. They only charge £3.50 per day and because I took on one of their abandoned piggies, all boarding for him is free!

A work colleague and I discovered a shared love of guinea pigs and now have a reciprocal care arrangement. Currently have 2 extra here and am loving it... especially at breakfast and dinner time, the noise is incredible when the fridge door opens!! 😂

Mate comes and feeds/waters/cuddles them daily. I do the same for her pets when she’s away.
