Biggest and best Hamster cage?

We have recently adopted a Hamster from the RSPCA and bought the biggest cage I could find at the time (old so not avaliable anymore, second hand), it was bigger than anything pets at home have. However she is quite a big hamster and still doesn't seem to have enough space. She is a bit over weight already and doesn't seem interested in the wheel we bought her but will quite happily climb all around the bars.

I would love to buy a huge cage but I can't find anything thats really big but also practical. We have a good budget but want it to be the right cage. I don't want to connect multiple cages ideally as we have dogs so a) Need it to be escape proof and b) The cage is kept up on a unit so the dogs can't reach it and scare her/knock the cage. So I need to be able to lift it down each evening to get her out.

Would be open to any ideas.Ideally with bars to climb as she seems to spent most of her waking hours climbing bars.

I've ordered the Alexander lol. As well as a wooden wheel and a load of other toys and hanging bits. Can't wait for it to arrive! She currently sleeps loads but we don't know how old she is - might be old. She was dumped at rspca so no history known.

Hoping a more fun cage will get her out of bed a bit more!

Amazing. She’s a lucky girl :)

Another issue we have had is I've been putting her in her ball, on a stand in the evening for a bit so she gets some exercise but the door keeps coming open and she gets out. I'm happy to buy a new one (this was second hand with the cage so might be why although it doesn't seem damaged in any way) but don't want the same thing happening with a new one.
Any ideas? If she starts using a wheel then I probably won't bother but I've not seen her even attempt to use one so I want to make sure she gets enough exercise. I can't risk escaping with the dogs - I shut them out of the room when she is out of her cage or in the ball but if I lost her it would quickly become a big problem! I have watched her constantly though- I'm as worrier as you can probably tell lol

I don’t like hamster balls TBH. I use a hamster run made from plastic panels that are meant to form part of a modular cube shelving thing you click together.

I've never had a hamster, but if I did I would:

Haha, I remember a cage we were looking at actually had a photo of a child inside of the cage in its advertising to point out that it's bigger than you'd think 😁

How is it working out for you OP? Would it suit gerbils do you think? Thanks!
