Casanova Gingerpig!

Madampig is my first sow, so I'm not used to the ways of lady pigs. This is Gingers first wife and he's being 'extremely romantic' in his attentions to her. Mostly this is not a problem, Madam just shouts at him and he backs off. The last couple of days he's been rather more enthusiastic and insistent with her. This morning she was shouting so loudly, my teen DD emerged from her noisy (hairdryer/music) bedroom to see what the fuss was! Madam was fine, just fed up with trying to spurn her suitor. I put Ginger in a 'time out' to give her a break. They both had some spinach to help recovery. When I put Ginger back he charged over to her again, so I distracted with fresh hay and all was well.

Is this normal? Could she be in season and Ginger is picking up on that? DH is just glad Ginger's been fixed or we'd be inundated with piglets.

Definitely in season Fernie...our boys were always the same with their partners every so often. Both girls developed the art of a swift little kick with their back legs to deter advances

Our tricolour boar is dreadful when satin pig is in season, constant harrassment. Ginger pig was, in his heyday, slightly more gentlemanly about the whole thing with his girls - but only slightly.

We do the 'time out' thing and distraction with food too but it'll all wear itself out in a day or so. Tricolour and satin have been living together for 3 years now and they always settle down again once he's finished making a thorough nuisance of himself.

Thanks diet - things are indeed back to normal now, although Ginger is very much in the doghouse with my teen feminist DDs who are shocked at his behaviour. Madampig seems to have forgiven him although she did swipe his lettuce this morning.

Teenage boys .. somehow the boys bit went missing

GP4 and GP5 used to be reet little turds in season.......snippy with each other, snippy with GP6, stronger smelling pee...and they staggered their days to prolong it.
Luckily it only lasted 24 hours each (so we had a day of arseiness from GP4 then another from GP5) then they were back to their normal lovely selves.

I'm surprised they manage to breed at all when they have this evil attitude . Bit like living with a teenage daughter !

Maybe GP7 and GP8 were in season when we tried to marry them off to GP6 , they certainly didn't embrace him

Do none of your sows do the gross spraying pee backwards thing? Fatimus was expert at spraying at Old Boy. Didn't put him off though

Luckily our boars learned quickly.

GP5 peed sitting on my lap once (as I'd ignored The Dance) , I was mesmerised and horrified equally at the skill of backward pee

Ginger's shenanigans pale into insignificance when considering

1. Sooty, a boar who looked remarkably like Mr Pig (of SFA and with problem teeth) in 2000 escaped his pen and made 24 sows pregnant
2. In 2014 Randy from a petting farm in Warwickshire, got in with the sows and made all 100 pregnant .
