Suggestions for small pets

There is a clause in my flat rental that says I can't keep pets. Suggestions please for small, interesting, easy to keep animals that I could keep in my flat. [ In other words I am not averse to breaking rules but only on a small way :) ]

Nothing? Given that you agreed the terms of your flat rental when you moved in?!

Also, it's not fair to a small pet as you should always aim to have the biggest cage possible, to have you can hide easily you'd need a very small one. Even hamsters and mice deserve a good sized cage!

Most rodents will be very obvious TBH.

What about fish ( though they are harder work than alot of people think) or if you can cope with exotic beings, spiders, reptiles, terrapins?

They all have their own specific needs and environments though, maybe not so easy to keep?

Please don't. We rented out our flat in the first big recession and requested no pets. Our tenants were lovely but asked a lot for a pet.

I'm 99% they sneaked a hamster in.

There are lots of ads on Gumtree for animals not allowed in rented flats, it sounds like setting yourself up for heartache if you have to give up a pet.
