New Hammy

We have just brought our new 9 week old baby hamster home this morning.

He has an upstairs platform in his cage where his 'house' and bedding are, plus his food bowl and water bottle. It's accessed by a slide/ramp thingy. So far he has not realised it's up there though and is currently fast asleep under his tunnel with no bedding etc.

We did try and put him 'upstairs' when he went back into the cardboard carrying box but he didn't stay up there long. Obviously we can move his food down for him but the house is fixed to the cage and the water bottle will be tricky to have lower down.

Will he figure it out in the end on his own once he's properly awake or should we rejig the cage?

Thanks (it's been a long time since we had a hammy in the house!)

He will figure it out, once he is awake he will want to do some exploring and he will find his food and water.

Thank you, I hoped he would
