He's looked after the boars before but they were lardy and uncomplicated.
Food/cuddle/change bedding.

The sows....he thinks the Himmy doesn't like him Grin (she pees him with no warning. He just doesn't read the signs)
They are uncatchable when they're in a daffy mood.
They need more changes of bedding (poor DH, more work)

They are in the Pighouse but with this rain they won't be able to go out , not that he could catch them in the big run. So it'll be Grass Scissors at the ready .

I'll buy him beer as a reward. Easter Wink

As long as he doesn't get the boars and sows muddled up!!!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/04/2015 11:29

Ahh no that's not a problem marmalade we've only got sows now, the boars have gone to The Rainbow Bridge. (The boy who lived with the sows was neutered )

I think he's sectretly a bit in awe of the sows ,they're a bit more reserved. The boars were more "Feed Us Feed Us" Grin

Good luck DH - they are a couple of demanding ladies you have. He's going to have his hands full.

Watching this with interest, we are in a similar situation next week. DD1 will be looking forward the guineas and DM is coming to stay to look after DD1. DM has made it clear she does not do guinea pigs. DD1 tells me she can be responsible and look after the girls. I wanted to board them with the rescue they came from.

I have drilled DD1 its not just the feeding and cleaning but Coco's medical routine as well - Metacam and foot care.

I bet I will be phoning every day to check after the guineas. I won't be worrying over DD1 Grin

Same here- we're away and just dh at home with 2GPs to put out in the day and bring in August night. I have visions of him forgetting and them being left out in the hutch all night.......
I will be ringing to check on a very regular basis (as will dd!!!!).

millimat · 05/04/2015 13:13

*August?!!! Meant at!!!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/04/2015 18:40

We've phoned DH twice -strict instructions about fresh pellets and water and how often to clean, fresh deep hay at night .

fortified you could ask DD1 to take a photo of Coco's paw and send it to you so you can compare ( have a photo on already , the colours don't always show up true).

These guinea-pigs are so spoiled, hopefully they'll appreciate us when we get them back Easter Grin

DH looked after the ladies splendidly, even chose some nice spring greens for them (which they quaffed) and made sure they had variety, their windows opened for ventilation and clean bedding daily.

DD was delighted to see her pigs again Grin

Well done DHWine. I'm sure the ladies were spoilt.
