Wet weather

Our two GPs are outside in a combined hutch/run. I put them to bed and get them up and in the day they're happy in the run. I keep a pet carrier in the corner filled with newspaper and hay and they like to have a lie down in there after lunch.

But so far the days have been largely dry. Just wondering what to do as the weather gets wetter? I know wetness is not good for them but don't want to coop them up all day. Are run covers any good/not too pricey?

I haven't used rub covers loveis ( I peg a tarpaulin over the run as an emergency if my DD isn't here to catch the pigs, or if it looks windy and they need protected)

Trouble is, the ground will be wet anyway (are they on grass or concrete/decking?)

Maybe invest in an indoor run? Can be something as simple as a childs paddling pool ( you might get one on eBay? )
I bought some interlocking panels last year to make a winter run for my boars (I'll have a look for the site). They take up very little space, I put a folded tarpaulin on the floor .

I bought a small pool (well DH did, I'd have bought bigger) to bond our boars last year, then when our neutered boy met his new girls, we sprayed/disinfected it and put in paper, hay, food to let them run about (I'm sure the eye searing yellow dazzled them )

Guineapigs aren't very energetic souls in cold weather, they'll just sit in their living space then have a mosey round. Not like rabbits.

We don't use our garage, so put the run in there when it is wet... we pull a handful of dandelion leaves and pop them in with some hay.

Usually cut their nails just before and the concrete floor in there takes off the rough edges too....

I use interlocking panels indoors with a ground sheet then a fleece on top to protect the floor. I would mot put guinea pigs on the grass unless the grpund is dry to your touch, piggies are not good in damp conditions and they tend to get respiratory infections and fungal infections very easily.

What are their names?

They're called Dobby and Buckbeak, named by a Harry potter fan who worked at the animal shelter.
