Hi I just read that sawdust is bad for gps. We are using wood shavings. Is there something we should be using instead? Our two have an indoor run with towels and fleece but wood shavings and hay in their cage.

Wood shavings is not the same (not as dusty) as sawdust. My GPs were fine on wood shavings.

However, just as cheap & safe & compostable & doesn't have any dust risk is cellulose clumps. Megazorb is the brand we used. See if you can phone around to find a supplier. A farm shop delivered ours.

There's an equine bedding Auboise (sp) which is hemp - alot of the equine beddings are dust free because of respiratory problems in horses.
And you need o make sure it's not citronella infused - too strong for little noses (unlike horses who don't have 2" long legs )

I use paper shreddings (confetti cut) , the boars have their own shredder Grin

Wood shavings are sharp and can dry the skin and fur out though.

We tend to use hay+ newspaper for them. Roll it up and in the bin.

If they are inside they have puppy pads under the newspaer and a couple of folded towels to sleep on, with their hay in a trug.

Just hay and newspaper here as well. I have friendly neighbours who supply me with newspaper. I use old towels in their indoor run.
