So the vet says my rabbit is obese

She's a giant rabbit (French lop.) 4 years old.

She looks completely normal, ie, she doesn't look fat. She is 5kg.

Does that strike you as too much?

I don't think the vet understood that she is a giant breed.

Just googled it and on the first 3 sites I found the average weight should be between 4-10kg. So I would say your rabbit sounds fine. Can she clean herself properly (reach her tail)? Usually if they're obese they can't do that.

Hmmm our vet thinks healthy pet rabbits should be slightly on the portly side. Maybe register with a new vet?

I only ever seem to have portly pets Grin. I would agree you could try a different vet - not all of them are clued up about rabbits.
