To whomever it was on here who suggested cornflour to stop the bleeding after accidentally nicking the quick when clipping claws - it's just worked a treat.

My boys have just been bathed and clipped and Smooth was being stroppy and I nicked him. From somewhere in my grey matter I recalled this tip and deposited a bleeding pig on my DD (she was not pleased but the pig was eating cucumber and quite happy) then rummaged to get the cornflour. It really worked.

So a big thank you to whichever of you it was and to everyone who gives such great advice on here all the time.

I need to cut our boys' nails (but not on Friday, very unlucky)

GP1 has black claws except for one, but he's cool about it.
GP3 has pink nails (gooooood) but kicks like a mule with an attitude to match.

I might need the cornflour for DD (she holds, I clip)

It is normally Scruffy who misbehaves but he went first so Smooth could see him munching his 'good boy' parsley and got overexcited.

I've got to ask, 70 why is it unlucky to clip claws on a Friday?

BTW Millie Pig was on the naughty step on Christmas Day. Whilst only DD1 was home Millie Pig bit Coco who screamed very loudly. Luckily no injury but DD1 had to cuddle Coco until she stopped shaking.

Millie is not normally like that. All I can think of is she got a bit funny in the head from eating too much Christmas treat 'Little Gem lettuce' and jealous from Coco spending too much time in a coveted cardboard box.

fortified it's unlucky to cut nails on a Friday ( no idea why but I'm very superstitious . I must look into the background of this. Most superstitions / Old Wives Tales have some factual background)

So, by the Guinea-Pigs reckoning, if I cut their nails on a Friday , I'm bound to do them henious harm, and it would be All My Fault because I KNOW it's wrong.

The fact I'm an NHS Podiatrist cuts no ice with these judgey hogs ( I don't work Fridays -so my patients aren't at risk )
