Lonely gerbil

My gerbil lost his brother last week and I feel very sad seeing him alone in the tank. They always used to be very snuggly together. The remaining gerbil is nearly 3, so too old for a new friend. Any suggestions for anything I could put in the cage to provide a bit of comfort to him? Ps he is still eating fine, but is not very active

Aww, poor little blighter. Could you get a little beanie bear sized teddy for him to curl up with?

poor gerbil, we had our girls for 4 years when the first one died, the other one only lasted a few months after, we got her out loads and played with her, she perked up a bit when put her cage next to the hamster cage they would watch each other, but obviously couldn't go in together.
