Fleas!

...I can't get rid of the buggers and poor dd is getting bitten far too regularly
I use the drops in between their shoulder blades every month (stuff bought from the vet or pharmacy) and have sprayed the whole house using the spray recommended in a large pet superstore (hoovered b4 and after treatment). Wash all linen regularly. It does my nut when I see yet another bite on dd.
Our two cats are part of the family and we love them, but this can't carry on, poor dd is always scratching the bites and gets nasty scabs as a result. It must be so uncomfortable for her, not to mention embarrassing for us.
DH and I don't get bitten and the vet nurse I spoke to suggested its due to dd being closer to the floor.
What else can I do to get rid of them? It was never bad when we lived in a town but terrible now that we are in a rural area.

Did the previous owners of the property have pets? Flea eggs can lay dormant for 2 years. I did a quick search for you and found www.bradford.gov.uk their website gives good information and advice. I don't live in Bradford but had a cat many years ago so remember flea problems.

Hi tea, thanks. The last owners had chickens so I don't know if they get fleas! They lived in the garden anyway. I'm pretty sure our cats are bringing them in, but because the cats have been treated they are biting dd instead
I have looked on my local council website and they offer pest control but I that's just for people in social housing/ receiving benefits, I will ring them and ask. Otherwise think I'm gonna have to pay someone to come and fumigate the house! My worry is keeping them away for good though, asI don't want to fork out & for them to reappear a week or two later. Anyone had experience of this doing this? Does it stop them coming back?

Are you using Advocate on the cats? Some of the drops are useless.
I'd also recommend spraying the carpets - I've used Indorex with great success.
