Can we have a warm (but very hushed because he's shy) welcome to the latest member of the SFA Team. Introducing GP3

He's a little 6 wheeks old Swiss sort of agouti called Dylan (but will hereafter be known as GP3)

He's an almost carbon copy of GP1 but not such defined 'ticking' and his eyes are reddy/brown.
I'm thinking GP1 chose him thinking "Hmm, you handsome fellow you look like ME" Grin

They are currantly in the neww paddling pool in the kitchen. GP3 is hiding under a towel, GP1 is alternating between prowling and sprawling out.

There were some other very baby babies but they were with their mum . But GP1 seemed to have taken a shine to this little boy (and yes he is definately a little boy) so here he is.

Will dophotos if he ever surfaces from the towel. Wink

(Whispers) hello GP3 - please pop out so we can see photos.

Congratulations 70 on the arrival of your new family member, he sounds luffly.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/07/2013 15:10

Thank you.
He's up in the cage with DD on watch, GP1 and a fan.

He's already had a pee (large)
He keeps going under GP1s tummy (you are sooooo on the wrong track there Wink ) but GP1 is putting him right.

I didn't get to choose the name after all. Dylan was on my shortlist.
But now he seems to be called "Dill".

aw how lovely :) here's a carrot and a cuddle ;)

< whispers>
Oooh 70 , I am so thrilled for you all, he sounds adorable and I love the name.... really pleased he has some of GP2 about him as well, and that he gets on so well already with GP1.... long may it last. Is he all black? Does he have few hairs of a different colour? Dying to see photos of him ... whenever he emerges - so exciting!

You are going to have such a fab summer with a little one in the house!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/07/2013 18:08

Thank You -he's actually the double of GP1 (who is a large, handsome golden agouti smooth) . GP2 was the little black abby who died. GP3 is a Swiss so looks like a little newly washed fuzz-ball Grin.
GP1 is used to his quieter cagemate so the whole new baby alongwith the draining heat has left him a bit razzled and frazzled.
GP3 is all hyper excited by life in general .
They are in the cage in my DD room (I'm on her bed with her laptop). GP1 is curled in the corner, GP3 tucked in beside his rump.

We'll put them in the Pighouse tomorrow, I'm not relishing having to catch the little boy, he's on springs.
DD loves him to bits, she's never had the baby guinea experience.

GP1 and GP3 actually look like Dad and Son.

(Or Scooby Doo and Scappy Doo) Grin
All this GP1/GP2/GP3 gets confusing but they need their Mumsnet names to be part of the SFA Team.

Oh, sorry 70 I was getting my numbers all mixed up - how silly of me. Blame the heat and a few too many Pimms and lemonade I can visualise him now, he is like GP1 in miniature? It will be so lovely for him to have a 'son' to spend time going fishing with, I can't wait to see pictures of them both together, you will have to do your own special calendar of them:). GP1 will definitely show him the ropes, and he will soon have you both wrapped around his claws! :):)

guineapiglet · 13/07/2013 18:15

PS I am now going to go and google Swiss Agoutis - I may be back in a moment having turned a massive shade of green.

guineapiglet · 13/07/2013 18:17

I'm back!
I'm green!

(But I don't know how to do the jealous icon!)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/07/2013 19:10

GP3 keeps running over to GP1 at the slightest sound, which is sweet because it means in his eyes GP1 = safety.

He also wants the exact piece of hay that GP1 is eating or the paper he's sitting on.
Poor GP1 wants a quiet lounge about and there's a Tasmanian Devil in town Grin

I can fully appreciate that the last 48 hours have been a whirlwind of change for the little chap. He will settle down (crosses all fingers and toes).
And he's one of those pigs that squeaks as he jogs along, whereas GP2 was silent or made dove noises or nomnomnom noises. But no squeaky noises.

Googles ear-plugs for lardy hogs Grin

At last someone else has a noisy pig - Scruffy never shuts up Grin

Glad he's settling in okay.

guineapiglet · 13/07/2013 22:40

Happy first night in your new home gp3.
Sweet dreams.... Hope it cools down. Nobody is sleeping in this house!!!

:):)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/07/2013 07:45

They are out in the Pighouse now. GP1 is a bit Confused because he hasn't been in there since Thursday night and last time it smelled of all his stuff.

GP3 can cover 3' in a nanosecond .He's a little shadow to his new "Dad" Smile
DD brought them through for a morning cuddle, GP3 was wheeking like mad when he was seperated from GP1.
And (thankfully) GP1 goes off looking for him when they are apart.
GP3 just has to learn a few boundaries but it's early days yet .

Hope you have all had a good day and gp3 learning new tricks.. Hope he is settling in and enjoying daddy time! Hes a lucky chap to have landed with you all... I can feel the stuff of a childrens story coming on ....!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/07/2013 17:24
Thanks GP1 is a very good caring step-dad but as he's used to GP2 and him having 'boar-space' I think he's got to get used to this new little soul who constantly follows him. Can't even have a pee in peace! And GP3 hasn't mastered the etiquette of "Don't run through the food or salad plate". We're finding baby guinea poohs in the pellet bowl. To be fair to GP3 , he's been put into a completely new situation. He seems to love the Pighouse with all the hidey spaces and boxes to explore. They have their fan on, and last night we let them sleep out in the Pighouse. I think GP1 was getting a bit Hmm with the indoor cage. I don't know if he's been cuddled much either, he's very skitty (I suppose his age as well) and a bit gnaw-ey (not biting, just when they apply their teeth to test the situation)

DD is besotted with her two boys - I'm getting more chance to cuddle the solid and sensible GP1. He likes to MN at the table with me Grin

Aaaw... Bless him. What it is to be young and over enthusiastic, life just one big exciting adventure!! He sounds like he is content and safe. What more could a little guinea ask for!

He will learn his manners soon, and resolve to be cuddled in return for some bribe or other, pooping in the pellet bowl a sign of gratitude, honest :)

guineapiglet · 15/07/2013 18:03

Whoops!
Phone a bit sticky in all this hideous heat

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/07/2013 22:36

I keep thinking he's a little mouse or something that has got into the Pighouse.
I hear a scrabble of claws (he runs behind the hay-trug) then he scampers back to GP1.

"Ergh, mouse. No wait, GP3".

He's a nightmare to catch too because he's so quick and very light and fragile compared to GP1.
But he's starting to sit nicely so we're making progress Grin

Poo in the pellet bowl is allowed.
Running through the waterbowl and leaving a guinea present ...maybe not.

Oh oh oh, how incredibly exciting. Just can't wait to see the snaps!

Good to hear GP1 has come over all maternal. Oh, babies are just so delightful (green with envy face.)

Congrats!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/07/2013 22:44

KRITIQ what flavour is DBoar 1 ?
On his photos he varies from fluffy to long and lush fur.

At the moment GP3 has fluffy chicken fur but when I Google 'Swiss' they look like a halo effect of fur.

(Apparently they don't need washed as much as regular smooth pigs.)

Hello 70 - I haven't been on here for a while, so have only just caught up and heard the sad news about GP2. I'm so sorry. But a big welcome to GP3 - hope you (and GP1) have lots of fun with him.

Does he like parsley?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/07/2013 13:00

Hi dotty .
GP3 does like parsley (thankfully, because I can bribe him). He's still quite shy to eat though. Usually when food is put in the Pighouse GP1 is there before it gets to the floor.
GP3 has learned now not to take food out of GP1 mouth (he got short shrift. Nothing nasty just a quick head jerk from GP1. Best he learns now Grin )
He's definately eating well, there are loads of little poohs around.
And he's had a couple of short grass eating sessions. He loved that .

KRITIQ · 17/07/2013 19:03

Fluffy chicken fur sounds delightful! :)

GP1 theoretically is Texel - he was born in a rescue and that's what the mum looked like and the dad was supposed to be half Texel and half rex.

Basically, it's a bad hair day for GP1, every day! I wash him about every 6 weeks or so (or at least a "bum shower" if not the whole hog, so to speak,) just because he gets pretty honking. But, I think that's down to his lack of interest in grooming which is compounded by having messy, constantly growing fur, not caused by it!

Oh, the micro poos of a mini pig. Gorgeous! Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/07/2013 22:22

We let the pigs go out in the big rabbit run today (they've been out in the top wire bit of the indoor cage -cue judgey looks from GP1)

Big run is under a willow tree and the grass is long (lots of twigs and dandelions) a wooden house, wicker house and three hay tunnels.
GP3 couldn't believe his luck Grin
GP1 was relieved to be out in 'his' run.

Both were popcorning for Britain. Then when GP3 lost sight of his 'new dad' he wheeked his head off.
GP1 rushed to his side the first ten or twelve times. Then got very "oh, FFS" and slunk away into the wicker hut to mutter to himself Grin

FernieB · 20/07/2013 02:32

Bless GP1 - he's being ever so patient. What a star he is! And according to all the parenting books he's doing the right thing by letting GP3 cry and have to settle himself sometimes. Has he instigated the naughty step yet? Is GP3 allowed his parsley if he's not eaten his hay first? Wink
