Lola the gp has gone all saggy chin on me

anyone else had this? she is six so old i suppose, still tootling about the garden but resting a lot more - she is currently laid like a dog in the sun. anyway as she goes about her walks around the garden with her sister i have noticed she has lots of loose skin around her chin breast area that can almost drag on the floor . cannot feel anything untoward and she is still a steady 850g girl. she drinks for England but this has been the case form a year now. any ideas? her eyes look tired too poor love and she occasionally bunny hops though is walking normal mostly.

Aaw, she sounds lovely, what a nice day for her to be out and about enjoying guinea life - One of our elderly girls dveloped what we used to call 'her mane', with loose skin - as long as it is lump free it is probably just a sign of old age, she is a good age, and if her weight is steady and you can't see or feel anything visible and she seems to have no sign of obvious distress, everything you mention points to old age - sadly it comes to us all...... bless her, let her enjoy the lovely weather and unless she starts to deteriorate, by not eating, drinking etc, I wouldn't worry too much about her, make a fuss of her , she sounds like a real sweetie. :)

Oh has she has developed a dew lap like a rabbit. Not necessarily anything to do with old age. Fatimus has a double chin like this. As her MN name suggests she is extremely fat.

If she is abit stiff make sure she is getting plenty of vitamin C. If she enjoys a bath, she may enjoy a leg massage whilst being bathed. My Old Boy did. He lived to be just over 6 years old.

Aw thanks, she doesn't really like a bath though she has probably only had two all her life!! i will perhaps give her a dip at the weekend. she is having a sly nap behind the plant pot

I don't think I would bath her if she is not already a fan of alittle dip. It could stress her out.

My Old Boy always loved his Johnsons baby bubble baths. I used to put him in a washing up bowl and gently rub his legs.

Awww 6 yo is good going for a guinea-pig and they do show signs of age.
She might find the warmer weather a bit much to deal with - they will insist on wearing those thick real fur coats though

This year I'm going to ask DH to put some our spare ceramic floor tiles in the hog house to make it cooler for them. They can have a fleece to cuddle up in and their hay in a rack.

GP1 has a rather impressive set of chins on him. DD reckons he looks
lionesque rather than chubby.

Ours aren't wild about a bath either- definate animal cruelty in their view

yes very like a lions chin your right, i just gone out to check on her, she is all tucked up in the Hutch now but squealed a little hay please squeal at me

Lola looks very much like my daughters guinea (except he doesn;t have the 'band' round his tummy.)

Does she have a golden belly? He has short, goldeny fur on his tum and black paws

her belly is same as rest of her, she was perky this morning mind it was a lot cooler here.
