Happy Christmas Guinea folk and Guineas!

May not get chance to post again before the big day, so just wanted to wish you and all your gorgeous furries a brilliant Christmas....... this will be our first without guinea girls for a year, so it will be very quiet with noone furry to cuddle...... so do give all your lovely guineas a cuddle from me, lots of green things to eat, and lots of fun! Have a great christmas one and all XX

My DD (10.6yo) still says we are lucky to have the boys-it was just by luck that we got the boars but she reckons they were waiting in rescue just for her.

Though GP1 blotted his copybook by peeing on my brand new robe .
He hasn't done this for ages (though in his defence I put him in the basket for a pee and DD gave him back to me too quickly).

Sprouts,carrot, purple brocilli, turnip, corn-on-the-cob and my own bodyweight in parsley await the boys.

Merry Christmas to you too guineapiglet and everyone else. Yours eat sprouts 70? Blimey! Mine won't touch them. There's a blessing . OB is prone to abit of gas especially when he's cuddled up with his bum under my chin.

Today I wrapped OB up and carried him round the garden. We picked a huge bunch of grass and it made a very nice snack to share with his girlfriends.

how do your boars behave when they have lay-deez in the house?

My DD took the boys into their garage run while I cleaned their Pighouse.
Then walked round our waterlogged garden picking tiny little dandelion leaves (that grow in the nettles) <img loading="lazy" class="inline-flex mumsnet-emoji" alt="Hmm" src="https://www.mumsnet.com/build/assets/hmm-PR4o6B1t.png"> because our boys haven't been grazing for weeks.

Hee Hee 70, I'm not sure they are even aware of them. The ladeez are in the guest room (naturally) and the boys still in the living room. There will be no kissing on Hogmaney, either! :-)

They are very excited about Christmas and looking forward to their sprouts later (we eat Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve) and to playing Hide and Seek in the wrapping paper in the morning with the rabbit. Rabbit is looking forward to being allowed back in the living room again - he's was sent out in disgrace last night after he tried to open the presents under the tree when we weren't looking

Santa has a parsley bell for each of the boys and some foragy/twiggy/smelly/type twigs that they love to snaffle .

KRITIQ - I love their pirate food bowl - my boys would love something like that. Santa brought them a new chew ball, a parsley plant and a wooden chew thing to dangle from their cage (so they have to reach it and exercise). They are also sharing a noisy ball with the rabbit. If you poke the ball, it makes a noise/says a phrase - they keep playing poke and run with it. Smoothpig is terrified of it - Scruffypig loves it.

Kritiq thanks so much for posting these, they are priceless, and the pirate bowl is utterly brilliant!!! They are both such handsome chaps, but I have to say the big, smooth pig (name? Dboar1?) has definitely been around before, he is very camera savvy, always kind of looking at you, I reckon in a previous existence he was someone like Clark Gable, very photogenic ( they both are, but he always seems to be 'posing' - !!!) Loved these, more for my calendar!!

PS Fernie! What a brilliant game, bless them - where did you get the ball from, would love to see them playing with it... my girls used to play, but not in the same way as these competitive boys, wonderful stuff.

PPS have looked at photos again. The one with the sock dinosaur is priceless.....

Fernie, the bowl came from ebay - just thought it might be more fun than a regular dish! It sounds like your piggies were well spoilt. Never seen a noisy ball. I think my boys would growl at it alot, and try to kill it!

Ah, thanks for the lovely words guineapiglet. If I tell Dboar2 he reminds you of Clark Gable, he'll only become more snooty, and he's snooty enough!

70, "Bad hair day" pig actually has quite a deep voice for a guinea pig. He and his bud can sing harmonies! :)

I think they're just really used to having their photos taken as I've done this since they were really small. This is Dboar 1 at 3 weeks, the day I got him from the rescue where he was born. Dboar 2 was just over 7 weeks old in this one. I think they are just lovely animals to photograph. They sit still better than dogs do! :)

Incidentally, this was the most amazing present I got for Christmas - done by the fiancee of DH's friend.

Dboar1 got lots of mauling cuddling from some young visitors today, and nearly from a visiting spaniel. Dboar2 stayed in his room and sulked most of the afternoon and evening. They're both so full of parsley and salad, they can barely move.

The turds still ignore it, like they ignore the water bowl.

DD is still awake and loves the baby hog photos (her boy was a year old when she got him)

She loves a tri colour/ tortoiseshell colour -and if she had a choice of hogs, that's what she'd have picked.
But when she got her hogs it was a case of : DD wants boars- GP1 and GP2 want a furever home. Boars come to our house.
Fur colour wasn't a consideration then

I want that painting ( or one very similar) !!! I have tried over the years to draw guineas and they are notoriously difficult to paint or draw in 3D - there were some rubbish attempts when G Force came out, but these are beautifully drawn - your friend is very talented.

I have shown all your pics to my husband, who has consented to me ( us of course) getting some more (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!yippee) - we loved the baby photos, I told you your smooth pig was a charmer, but the furry pig is so cute as a baby. Really love all these photos, it is such a treat. < goes back to feeding woodpigeons, blackbirds and a lovely jay who has just realised food is up for grabs!) As I put on other thread, I am such a technophobe re photos etc, so carry all my guineas around on my phone! Does that age me??!
70 I am a great believer that the pigs find us, not the other way round, we think we are in control, but I bet those boars were lying in wait for you and your daughter - and noone else would do:)

guineapiglet - noisy ball is called a Babble Ball and I got it from 'vagavalley' (online bunny supplies store) - the pictures on there are very cute.

Hi all thanks for messages.... 70 am keeping my fingers crossed for new guineas. We plan to move to new house in March, there is only a tiny courtyard garden (thanks north-south divide!) which we plan to lawn over. New accommodation for guineas required, and then we shall go to wheek and squeak the local guinea rescue and see who is waiting for us! After reading all the threads about boars, am quite tempted to get two boys, for a change, all the boys on these threads seem to have big personalities! At our max, we had five girls, and due to constrained space now, will not be able to have so many... but we had a larger garden then so they could roam about. It is hard moving somewhere new as we dont really know anyone to ask to feed etc when we go away, so will have to work on that. Failing getting our own, I shall set us up as a guinea rescue/respite care type thing, so I can foster them.....

Boars are fabulous.
GP1 is so much my DDs little shadow.
GP2 is a lovely little snuggle hog (DS pig but mine IRL)

I can forgive;
the pee marking by GP1
the risk of impaction (I think this will be GP2 problem. Then he'll be my pig)
The lazy lounging about showing off their bollocks on a fine breezy day

And they are just a bit boary smelling. Not unpleasant. And the smell of hay masks it.

But they are big burning hunks of love to misquote Elvis
