Is it really sad that I should want pet mice for my 30th birthday?

We had some before when DS was 4ish - he fell in love with his nursery mice and so I got him some for home.

I loved them - they're such fun characters and we have a fabulous independent pet shop that supplies brilliant stock... they come socialised and remained so last time

DS isn't interested any more, but I really miss the mice... sad but true!

Only problem is they'll have to live in my bedroom as we have a cat. Not impossible to get past, though

Not at all! I'm just waiting till DS is old enough to not stick fingers in the cage so I can get rats again! Which will probably coincide with my 30th thinking about it

Not at all. I think it's rather sweet. I wouldn't personally want mice, but if that's what you want for your 30th then go for it! (Unless DP has a rodent phobia, of course - could affect your sex life )

I've had mice (one of which was already pg so had 6 babies)

I've currently got 2 guinea-pig boars (who are in theory my DC pigs, but GP2 and I know different )

If I had a choice, I'd try female rats- a bit more substance than mice, more towards a GP size but much cleverer.
In fact it's their intelligence that put me off buying one for DS.If it escaped in his room, it could hide for months.

And I love their skinny little hands and feet style paws

70 Our female rats escaped, and then while we were preoccupied looking for them, they snuck back into the cage

Aaah, Bless. See they are clever.
My female mice escaped to my bedroom from the half stair landing (so climbed up six stairs).
They had free range for a weekend (I was away) and found a digestive biscuit.Good job I was untidy.
When my mum and I caught them they drank a teaspoon of water each

Mice are cute. Males smell horrible, though - had you forgotten?

This year I got my Gpigs quietly for my birthday. They were bought 2 days after so were a extra present .

I had some for 2 days, we had to return them.
The PetShop Owner asked my mum "Was she not supposed to buy them"?
Mum said "No, it's not that, it's just the stink".
He exchanged them straight away for the lady mice (who you wouldn't know were in the house except for the wheel whirring away at 3am)

Mice are absolutely gorgeous, with their wiggly ears, long whiskers and teddy bear faces. But, they do smell like sweaty sox, no matter how often you bathe them or how much Chanel No 5 (or the rodent equivalent) you put behind their divine, silky ears.

If I had anosmia, I think I'd have a house full of them (and no friends, but who cares with all those rodents?) :-)

i have 7 girls & 7 boys [seperated of course] and im not 30 until next month i dont wait for nothing

dont find a problem with my boys they are in a huge 3ft cage though? and i use megazorb, horse bedding.

go ahead and get some cute furries....
