bunny harness

we are looking after a bunny for a week while owner on hols... I tried to get her harness on her so she could hop around outside, but she growled and tried to bite me

Is there some technique i need to know?

Now she is hopping around the kitchen ok, but belted back to her cage at the slightest hint I'm going to get a hold of her.
