What will she do?

I'm anticipating:
weigh
check teeth (and hopefully back teeth if they are amenable)
check fur and skin for unwanted pests
check their (beautifully cut) nails
eyes'n'ears
listen to their breathing
their boar bits

ask about their general health and diet.

They are having a check-up because they are going on holiday in a few weeks and the Rescue recommends they have a Guinea-Pig MOT.

Anything else I need to consider? I will have a serious chat with them about Not Sitting on your Brother's Head (Yes GP1, I mean you )

I think that pretty well covers it!

They should have one of those teeth retractor thingies so they can see right into the back of the mouth. I don't know why vets don't have them.

They might suggest "worming" (ivermectin and panacur) depending on what their approach to it is.

Might offer you a cup of tea! :)

If you get a chance, can you ask if they know of any rodentologists within about 50 miles of Edinburgh? The boys have their amazing vet Scott now, but it would be cool to have a rodentologist for routine check ups and we seem to be a bit bereft up here. David Thomas in South Wales was just amazing!

I use Xeno 450 drops on them ( Ivermectin+ wormer + ticks) because they are outside grazers and I don't know what mangey scabby wormy arsed vermin foxes have wandered across my lawn.

Can I ask, where is the rodentologist 70? Old man pig is off his veg. Last time this happened he had grown a spurr on a back tooth and the vet put him out (scary thought). Don't want to put him through that again.

I'm also in TOWIE territory. Remember when the Sugar Hut was a pub called the White Hart.

Fortified be very wary of a pig off their food. My blonde pig had this and it can be life threatening. She needed antibiotics, probiotics and hand feeding for five days. www.guinealynx.info/emergency.html#anorexia

We take our pigs to an excellent vet in Hertfordshire called Vets and Pets in Hoxborne. The GP vet is there on Saturday and Sunday and the rodentologist is there on Saturday. They are a low cost vets and will see this as an emergency.

Silver it's the vet in your link (you posted it when your Blondie Pig was unwell) that my boars are going to.

They're seeing the Rodentologist (and she said the vet is on site -Amir IIRC)
but it's a general Give Them a Once Over Check -Up, because they're going on holiday to the place I rescued them.

WRT to Old Boars Teeth- some vets can access the back teeth <span class="italic">without</span> sedation. Worth asking if they can do this.I can see at his age (not that I'm saying he's <span class="italic">old</span> <img loading="lazy" class="inline-flex mumsnet-emoji" alt="Grin" src="https://www.mumsnet.com/build/assets/grin-D7Eg_B6y.png"> ) you wouldn't want to risk it.

70 how did it go? My pigs have had and MOT with the rodentologist and seen Amir several times as well. They are both fabulous.

Hi silver they're going this week. I had to wait until the holiday started (my DD would not let her precious boar go anywhere without her, unless it was an emergency)

I need to make them presentable. GP2 did a huge pee and walked through it yesterday so he's got a niffy tummy. (Will the little blighter ever learn? )

I'll post an update when they come back.
(Need to reassure the boars that they're not going to be neutered)

The boys went today and were ( preen preen) very well behaved. No screeching biting or fighting.

Our agouti didn't even bat an eyelid when the had his willy checked.

TBH they were in an arsey mood with me this morning because I gave them a claw trim and grease spot wash (and GP2 had got pee on his leg from larding about in the garden in a plastic shelter. His pee completely bypassed the newspaper and chose his luxurious fur to soak into)

They had a worming treatment and are now happily strolling round their pen.

feet and nails checked
Willies checked- GP1 had a couple of little cysts and some trapped hair. DD and I will have to check there regularly.
Teeth checked

And told they were fabulous which is the only part they listened to

And when they were having their hearts listened to GP2 was practically sleeping.
GP1 was biting at the arm of her glasses (next to him, he didn't climb onto her neck )
That was just him showing off his guinea humour!
