Poor Rory :( I dropped him off this morning and he looked most affronted to be removed from his wives and spent the whole journey to the vets trying to bash his way out of his box in the footwell of car! Maybe he knew what was coming.

I'm very worried about him so can I have some positive MN vibes please?

My boars are sending virtual boar shoulder headbutting vibes (they don't do hugs)

GP1 says "Soft ,non scratchy towels and fleece"

He says Rory will know exactly what he means

I've just scrubbed out the spare cage and put fleece down for him. I so hope he's alright. He's got 2 heavily pregnant wives counting on him!

I've eyed up some dandelions on the front garden which I'm planning to feed him to get his gut moving and will buy some broccoli. He loves broccoli.

When are your piglets due to make their appearance?
Will Rory be up for babysitting duties?

(When I was a child our sow had a litter of 3 and one of the boar piglets practically lived with his dad pig. Only went back to feed-when his mum let him ) She very much favoured the other 2.

Bless him!! Do hope he is OK and makes a good recovery - sounds like you are doing all the pampering these males expect - I would be doing the same ( we have only had girls), lots of tlc and all his favourite food etc and cuddles. Come to think of it, males of any species are strikingly familiar!

Not sure about the babies 70 but both sows as wide as houses and I can feel the babies moving so I think within the next week or so. We are all geared up for their arrival.. I can't wait!

Doubtful Rory will be ale to babysit as getting conflicting advise about how long they need to be separated, some say 2 weeks and some say 6! I'd rather not have another 2 litters in 10 weeks, we only wanted to do it once.

Definately don't let Rory near the sows before he's officially Jaffa (seedless) we got a second litter that way!

Our 3rd piglet was pushed away by his mum, she'd shove him away from her if the other 2 wanted to feed, and would only let him nearer when the other 2 were full.

We put him in with his dad because it was so sad to see him sitting all forlorn.
Baby GPs can tackle dried pellets quite early , but we always put him back for his feed from mum.

Your vet will be able to tell you how long to keep them seperate, and if the piglets were definately boars they could go and play with dad when they were old enough.

Our GP was a good mum, but I think she liked a bit of peace from her babies now and again. (We never let the sow piglet near the boar, they've got no standards.It would be like an episode of The Borgias )

How long we're yours separated 70? The vets haven't called to say anything has gone wrong so I can hopefully assume it went ok. Only 16 minutes till they told me to call.

As for how to tell I any of the babies are definitely boars.. Sexing is the one thing that's worrying me as they all look the same! Have you got any tips? I used to be a whizz at sexing gerbils and hamsters but gps are hard!

This was pigs I had as a child (I've got 2 adult boars now I got as one year olds)

We got 2 sows but one wasn't!
So we had litter 1
Then we were told don't seperate them ,the boar won't harm the piglets. No he didn't he got the sow pg again straight away

They are difficult to tell, but even as babies the boars have a quite definite willy (if you press gently, it makes it more pronounce).

We didn't have our boar neutered, he was kept seperate from the females for good (seperate rooms).
Like your Rory he was bullied by his mate (Rory lived with The Doctor IIRC). She eventually contributed to his demise.

Rory's operation might be a bit delayed if they were doing alot of surgery or if clinic ran late.

Yy it's that Rory. He's a real treasure and absolutely adores his wives! You wouldn't believe the change in him since we got him, he's so happy now so want him to be able to go back In with them eventually. We're hoping there will be a girl out of the babies that we can keep but judging but the size of mable we're going to get several of each so that would be no problem :-D

I wonder who the babies will look like!

Well he's home and seems fine. He's eating and drinking and everything. Fingers crossed for a quick recovery!

Oh hope he's still fine. We had our boy done in April and were told by vet to keep away from his new bride for 6 weeks but 4 weeks by a lady who runs a rescue and does loads of neutered male pair ups.

We went for 4 weeks in the end and all was fine.

He got better pretty quickly and was back to his normal self in a day or two. The vet gave him a check up after 5 days.
