Went out tonight about 9.30pm to lock my girls in as they free range most the day and they were already back in their hutch waiting to be locked in (this is normal), anyway Charlie was in the blue boxy thing they sleep together in and lola was just in the corner looking a bit miffed (she is normally the more dominant one). When i locked the hutch up i popped in some extra hay to keep em warm and when lola went to go in the blue tub charlie started giving off this noise like a low drum hum not the usual squeak as if warning her , this is most odd , i went to pick up lola and she did tootle in the blue box with her and they both went quiet then the noise started again and she came back out!? I observed for a bit and she aint letting her in. They are both girls, sisters and they have lived happily for 5 years almost. I have left them to it.... anyone else had this?

Hi noyou.
I've got boars, so we have non-stop bickering in our PigHouse. It's like arseiness is as natural as breathing to this pair, but it's usually vocal and deliberately taking food from each other, or blocking the door to the 'housie box'.

I had sows when I was a child, and they would get a bit territorial about areas or pig houses.
Could it be that one of your piggies in in season?
Or at their age they are getting a bit hormonal? ( I reckon 5 yo is getting menopausal for GPs Grin )

It might be that they behave like this regularly, but you don't get to see it?

Maybe Charlie has got a sore spot and she doesn't want Lola near her? Might be worth checking her over.

Hope they sort it out.

Thanks, this morning Dh let them out before i could check if they were still seperated, however tonight they have shared a celery stick together and seem more pally though i will check on the situ at lock in to see if their is any house sharing friction, i did check charlie out earlier in fact she sat nicely on my knee for about an hour while i read a book and she seems in good shape Grin. I think your season/ menopausal thing is probably about the mark thinking about it. Mind lola poos an awful lot so perhaps shes just fed up of her messin gup the quarters Grin. I do worry they are getting old they are such a joy
