Cavy Cages

Has anyone built one of these cages or thought about it?

They look excellent, giving plenty of room for the guinea pigs to run around. On Rodents with Attitude they give a link to a packing company that can supply the base.

I'm seriously tempted, but am rubbish at DIY and would like to know if anyone else has tried it first!

Yes I have built a two storey one for my piggies brought the grids quite some years ago my eldest piggie died last winter aged 9years. Easy as can be to put together use tye wraps to make it more secured together.

Yes - we've just converted to a C&C cage and our piggies love it - go for it!

Yep, I have a C&C cage for winter when piggies are indoors, it's great. We use lino for the base because we had some spare after getting our kitchen done. Piggies seem to like it and means they have a much bigger cage than they would otherwise. Very easy to make as well.

Thanks guys! At the moment I'm putting the guinea pigs into a massive outdoor hutch or the run during the day and then bringing them back indoors at night. But come the winter they'll be indoors much more and I really want them to have plenty of space. You can really see how much they enjoy it :)
On the cavy cage, are the sides as high as a regular cage? Do you find they toss hay and bedding out??
Also Littlepumpkinpie did you have instructions on how to build a second level or did you come up with it yourself?? It sounds very impressive!
