What do you give your guinea-pigs or rabbits now that the grass is a bit ropey?

I'm managing to cut a handful of grass from the lawn but I know it won't be much longer.
I give hay to bed in and eat (changed daily) and I bought alfafa hay but it seems a bit dry not lush and juicy like grass.
The P@H site has a dried grass but on the picture it looks green. IRL it looks like straw.

I don't want to give more green veg-worried about their tummies and they already have veg/parsley/apple/grapes for breakfast and supper.We vary so that the choice isn't repeated.

Any ideas?

My rabbit is still bounding round the garden daily, he eats the grass with no complaints!

Ours eat dark green cabbage leaves.

My GPs were on the lawn last week (in a cage with some cardboard to sit on) but the grass was covered in pear tree and willow tree leaves.
They don't like wet bellies (more low slung than rabbits) so they sat on the cardboard and chattered to go back in the cage.
Don't think it was much fun for them

Funny thread, there are a lot of GPig keepers who insist that only purchased dried hay is good enough, and grass off the lawn should be purely supplemental. Not only that, but it should be timothy hay, or alfalfa, or some other quality superduper organic hay.

Which is funny because I worked biweekly on a silage field for nearly 2 yrs, so I know what a silage crop looks like, what grasses go into it, my lawn is just as good.

No firm answer, OP, as long as they have plenty of grass or hay, I think they manage.
