So this morning I put some food in the hamster's dish and changed his water. No response. I clucked and tapped his little house thing, no response. I put his house thing in the travelling cage and changed all the sawdust and cleaned his cage out. No response. This evening I said to DH that I think he ought to check whether the hamster was alive.

BUT THE HAMSTER IS MISSING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

O nononononono!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What to tell DS????????

See my thread here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/super_furry_animals/1245520-AWOL-hamster-any-suggestions
it has happened again since then and the bugger hid in the same place!
Good luck

Yay! Success! I went down to turn off the lights and log off the computer, and while I was reading your post I saw a little something moving across the room in the sitting room. It was the hamster! We put his little house out and he went back in, and then we lifted the house into the modular cage. He seems strangely quite happy. He has been grooming and going in his wheel so I think he's had a nice day.

Anyway, all's well that ends well! Grin

DH was a bit put out because I made him go through the entire kitchen bin in case I had inadvertently thrown the little blighter out. Grin

My sisters hamster escaped loads, once he was missing for a whole week! We found the nice little nest he had made behind a set of drawers in the kitchen. T'was a lovely little nest, using my bedroom carpet. He used a whole corner of it! Little sod. I eventually found him in my room, and trapped him under my bin.

Another time he escaped my sister found him in the middle of the night crawling over her face.
