Why is one of my ratties refusing her food but eating fruit like it's going out of fashion?

I thought it might be an issue with her teeth as she doesn't seem to like hard food - we buy rat supreme to stop the selective feeding thing that they do. But her teeth look just the same as her sister. She seemed to be losing weight and being very lethargic and not eating. But when we give her banana and melon she eats them very happily (and cheese...tut tut!).

So we are making sure she comes out and gets given the food she likes at least once a day.

Any ideas?

A trip to the vet I think

Is she wheezy at all?

Ormirian · 06/06/2011 12:11

Nope.

I think I will ring for an appointment for a check up though. They have both had an hour or so playing with DS2 and his mate - very lively and happy as far as I could see. But still worth a check up.

She has also stopped nipping us! She is a red-eye and quite nervous if anyones tries to pick her without warning. But she hasn't been doing that - which reinforces my worries about her teeth.
