Roborovski hamsters - is anyone brave enough to get them out?!

Hi
We have recently acquired 2 roborovski hamsters. So far the children have only managed to play with them in the bath (without water clearly!) as otherwise I'm scared they'll escape. They are so darty and speedy I daren't try to carry them in my hands. They can also fit through scarily small holes and I think they'll end up under the floorboards....What does anyone else do?

I had some when I was a child. We bought some plastic lawn edging - it is a strip about 6 inches high and rolls up to be stored, which we used to make an enclosure in the livingroom. I would sit in it with the hamsters to play with them and let them run around.
