Vitamin C essential in GP diets

Apologies to all who are entirely aware of this, but as the author (a vet) says:

"when I examined him. Lively?s elbows and knees were swollen and stiff. To make a comparison, it was as if a human elbow was bulging to the size of a large orange, and a human knee was as big as a honeydew melon.

There are many possible causes of multiple joint swellings, but in guinea pigs, there?s one very common cause: a condition called scurvy, also known as Vitamin C Deficiency."

Do read & note if relevant to you

This is why you cannot keep guinea pigs on rabbit food; rabbits can manufacture their own vitamin c and guinea pigs can't.
