I'm starting to into codeine a bit

I just need something. I can't drink because I get so hungover.

I would maybe try vaping some weed if it was legal in the UK. I'm worried street weed is just going to make me go crazy.

I am addicted to food.

I'm trying to break that addiction with something else. I've always enjoyed the buzz I get from codeine. It's really nice.

I've started just taking it during the day a couple of times for the last couple of weeks.

I know it's not right and I need to just leave it be. Tonight I was about to have one and stopped myself. I'm still in time to not let this spiral.

But I need something. I need to stop food being my addiction. I need another outlet for my stress. What can I do ?

I strongly advise you to speak to your GP and get some addiction support. You have an addictive personality and need to learn the tools to manage that.

Don't do it. Don't. I took Coedine for pain for a while and the buzz stops happening really quickly, you'd have to take more and more and more to maintain it. You'll OD.

This is going to sound really preachy or unrealistic - but how about exercise? Like proper, hard, organised exercise? No phoning it in, really going for it and getting some endorphins?

Something like weight lifting or spin classes or interval training or something? Something with a teacher or personal trainer. Something you can really get into and focus on improving, going faster / harder / further?

Exercise definitely helps. I love it. I going tomorrow actually. I haven't been able to go the last few weeks but tomorrow I've already planned to go in the morning.

I used to smoke weed a lot in my teens and early 20s. I miss it so much. I just can't drink alcohol, that's the issue. Most people can just have a glass of wine a couple of times a week to kick back a bit- I just can't do that because I feel horrendous the next day- yes- even after 1 glass.

I don't want to smoke weed again, not if it's unregulated and with all the THC. I vaped a bit when I went to Germany recently - it's legal there and regulated. I didn't feel high and only had a little bit. That was nice. But we don't have that here. I'm not going to a dealer who'll potentially give me some strong dodgy stuff.

Fucking hell do not do that - codeine will ruin you and your entire life and body. Do you live near an Jamaican community? I buy weed from a man who grows it organically for religious reasons and it is not the super skunk - just a nice arthritis relieving relaxing feeling.

Please try and gradually reduce the codeine. Unless you have an actual pain condition it's not safe to take daily 'recreationally' as you will get physical addiction and withdrawal.
Vaping weed is legal if you get a prescription from a cannabis clinic. It's quite expensive but you could look into that?
Try and reduce to one codeine tablet, split into 4. Across the course of the day.
Then the next day have half, split in two, then hopefully a quarter, then none.
It's difficult but if you reduce over a few days it is a bit easier. If you struggle with this then you can see your GP. It will probably feel unpleasant but the more you take, the worse it gets. So I hope you can nip it in the bud now. I wish you well. I know it's not easy x

Thank you. How can I get a prescription for weed ? I do have MS, so maybe that could be a reason to get it ?

I'll be ok just leaving the codeine be. I've only been taking it on and off for a couple of weeks. Like 2 a day, sometimes 4. I went to grab some this evening and said to myself/ what's the point ? The 8 mg co codamol have almost no effect unless it's on an empty stomach anyway. So I just didn't have any.

That's all I need, just something ! I remember I used to prefer smoking the brown stuff back in the day too- was it called resin ? It's been so long. Because that gave me the physical chilled feeling, rather than my mind feeling all messed up.

Anyway I will try to see if I can get a prescription somehow.

Well done for stopping yourself! I have a health condition for which I take codeine when it’s bad, so I totally understand what feeling you’re after, but you’ll lose that if you keep taking it. If you’ve got some around the house, get rid of it all asap.

You mentioned exercise and going to the gym, could you get an exercise bike for at home? My job is stressful so I’m trying to get on the bike after work instead of reaching for wine to relax. I usually play some loud drum and bass on my headphones and go for it and it feels great.

@shoha well done. Try and just take each day as it comes. Luckily the dose you were taking is quite low, as you say it doesn't really do much. So just leave it. When you've got a bad migraine or something you'll be glad to have it then, and it will work. So only use it if you're genuinely in pain. It's good you're cutting it out.
As for the weed script, I personally don't have one but if you Google private cannabis clinic in your area you should find something.
If you have MS, anxiety, depression, arthritis for example a lot of people get prescribed weed for those reasons.

Hello. Just wondering if any one is currently getting of codine just now , any advice , what you feeling. I’m day 2. Been on them for 10 years , 30/500mg 4-10 a day. I’m going cold turkey, currently got stomach pain and diarrhoea. Eating okay but yeah, also just super tired.
im drinking loads of water, rehydration sachets couple a day so far.

I think resin is really hard to find these days. Search the difference between indica and sativa. Indica relaxes your body, sativa gives you a high and makes your mind race!
Most weed is a hybrid of the two.
Resin was always high in indica.

Pretty sure that with a bit of a search you could get a vape pen posted to the UK. ;-)
