Husband drinks a lot

So my husband and I used to enjoy having fun and drinking together but since we’ve had our son I’m very restraint as know I hav to wak up during the night. We have a fair division of Chores, I’m very luck he does more than me in terms of cooking and cleaning. I don’t mind him having a drink, but he doesn’t know when to stop. He wanted to get more wine after dinner and I had to say we’ve had enough. I’m really not boring, well up for mad weekends, but feel this rut we are in now isn’t helping anyone.

Does he drink every day? How much is he drinking?

He goes through phases. He didn’t drink at all from January to May but summer is always bad as he wants to go out to bars and restaurants and keeps drinking when we get home. We are on holiday at the moment. Today he drank at lunch and then all day. I had one drink and he had 5. He went to the supermarket on way home at 4:30 and came back home at 9. He was in bars and kept saying he’ll be home after this one but can’t help himself. He’s been in some really bad states so I am very anxious when he is drunk outside the house as he makes bad decisions and loses stuff. He said that I am trying to control him but I just want him to be safe and healthy.

Hello. I think you need to have a conversation with him about this. It sounds like he cannot drinks responsibly, you don't need to enable him to appear fun. You have child now and it is illegal to be drunk in charge of a child, for their safety.
