Can I replace codeine with tramadol?

I’m on holiday and have been running low on codeine. I’m on 4 per day off the dr but our flights were all delayed so I’m going to run out by the last day. There is a pharmacy here that sells tramadol. I read it’s similar to codeine. Anyone know who’s taken both of tramadol will take away all the symptoms codeine does that I get when I miss a dose?

Please don't take tramadol! I put a post on about it the other day it's evil and nothing like codeine! It made me an absolute zombie but worse still was that I was instantly hooked and if I didn't take it got flu like symptoms

You really need professional medical here. Both are really addictive.

tramadol is known to have more side effects and can have unpredictable effects as boymama said. Seek medical advice (do u have travel insurance?)

Really bad experience with Tramadol here, they’re not the same at all. Can you widen the gap between your doses slightly to eek out/try minimise withdrawal? For the next trip abroad to places where you cannot easily access medical help, it’d be best to take at least 3 days spare medication.

The country I’m in are very strict and said I could only bring in the exact amount I needed and it had to be stated in a letter by the dr
