Partner has relapsed

My partner in a recovering alcoholic and has had a relapse. He has drunk 4 medium size bottles of vodka today. I found one under his pillow and tried to pour it away but he took it off me and downed it. I really don't know what to do or who to call to help him. I've got my 12 week scan tomorrow and then have to see a consultant due to heart issues and it seems I'm going to have to do it on my own. We live with his parents but they are on holiday, I don't know weather to tell him mum or not.

Hey - just wanted to say I hope you are ok. I'm sorry that you are in this situation.

I hope that your partner gets himself some help to get back to sober living. Sending a big hug x

Tell mom as you are leaving the house. You can't stay with this man and you certainly can't raise your child around an alcoholic who is still drinking. Given you're only 12 weeks you still have a lot of time to get yourself sorted. Your husband is the only one who can help himself.

Hi @StephanieJ I’m sorry you are going through this. I know how tough it is. it can be easy for someone else to say “leave him”, not necessarily easy or even the right thing to do (though it may be). I know this from experience. My husband is also an alcoholic. Thankfully, he is now over 2 years sober. Remember there is a difference between a lapse (something that they can quickly pull back from and learn from) and a relapse (when they can’t pull back and are instead being dragged back down). How long has he been sober for? Has he been through treatment/rehab, so he can go back for support. Was this a one day lapse, or more than that?
