I'm with amothersplace. It's a very nice dress but not really wedding wear.

What a fab website - wish I'd known about it before I bought the frock that I'm wearing to my relative's wedding.

I'm not sure that the satin spider web is appropriate for a wedding though, sorry - what about some of the others? There are some lovely ones - perhaps one of the cotton ginghams or prints? Also - if you buy one in a size 10 you can give sell it to me afterwards!

Hi - Just wanted to add my two-penneth. Is the dress something you would normally wear, ie vintage/rocking/50's etc? If so, then wear it as the bride would expect to see you wearing something that fits your usual 'look'. For what it's worth, I think the green one is nicer and you'll get loads more wear out of it and looking back on the photos in years to come it will still look brilliant.

It's fine. It's not like it's white or even particularly revealing - just wear it.

op what about this dress, it's actually very flattering. and nice for dark colouring

Beautiful dresses, prefer the green though, but if this is a big purchase get the one you want.

Is it me or can you just not get away with that style if you have poker straight hair? Would look naff on me.

carriedababi · 20/06/2010 20:18

op, will you go for a 50's hair do too?

nickelbabe · 21/06/2010 11:59

you wouldn't be able to wear the green one at my wedding, i'm wearing a green dress.

(i don't believe in bad luck and it's my favourite colour)

however, if you did turn up in green, i really wouldn't mind!

nickelbabe · 21/06/2010 12:00

flibberty she can wear a cardigan for the service!

nickelbabe · 21/06/2010 12:01

bollocks, i read the wrong person - it was amothersplace that said the shoulders thing.

steamedtreaclesponge · 21/06/2010 12:07

I have a VOH dress like that (yellow and pink floral design though, rather than spiderwebs), and I've worn it to several weddings.

I really don't think that wearing something with a big flouncy skirt is upstaging the bride, unless she's wearing the same dress! As people said, a full-length number in white would be far more likely to cause problems.

For what it's worth I think the green dress is much more appropriate and will still presumably flatter your figure. Also I'm not sure about spider's webs for a summer wedding, maybe a bit too gothic.
