In reference to a question by ltec the other day.

OP posts:
eshermummy · 08/06/2010 19:24

Sorry Tracey, am going to blame tiredness (and the fact that I never go anywhere, so think the school gates are "out") for that!
Am sure it would look nice on a night out with heels and a pretty necklace.

DD is home tonight, was only day surgery. She could probably go back to school tomorrow but am going to keep her home to make up for hospital today but tbh it's more for my benefit than hers as she LOVES hosp (thank God, as we are there a lot!)

AllBuggiedOut · 08/06/2010 19:29

vin have you spoken to All Saints? I'd be amazed if they refused to do an exchange for a different size; in fact I don't see how thier time limit for returns can be anything other than from the point at which you receive the goods. If their courier screwed up and delivered to the wrong address, it's not your fault (am presuming you didn't say "leave with neighbour" when you ordered)? Even at the discounted price it's a lot of money for something that's not right.

hellsbelles · 08/06/2010 19:31

at Tracey doing the school run in the jumpsuit! It looks great - can't wait to hear if it is as good as it looks.

Esher- glad to hear DD's operation went well. But I can imagine how stressful it was.

MM about sunnies and friend.

NAP SALE - I have inside information that the NAP sale is the 14th of June. So get your wish lists at the ready ladies

DB at DH being so gorgeous (and choosing it all himself!)

Thanks for the body lotion tip - I"ve just run out of some and was wondering what to replace it with.

VB - it's so sad to hear that DD is suffering about that at such a young age. She sounds so beautiful. Can you reassure her that it is normal and that if it's still troubling her when she's bigger there are plenty of ways to change it and so many women have to?

I keep thinking about those lovely boots! I want them...

TOO MANY SMILEYS I KNOW!

Romanarama · 08/06/2010 19:34

The jumpsuit is lovely esher

carciofi · 08/06/2010 19:37

Esher - glad your DD is doing well. Yep, going to have a look at Esher at the weekend so would love to know which schools are good (state and private) and are there any areas to avoid? Thank you!

I didn't get the email from my-wardrobe and I have bought loads from them. Would someone mind forwarding the email to me? [email protected]

Oooh and if anyone has the Boden preview email could you please send me that as well? Thanks

Romanarama · 08/06/2010 19:39

I have a great self-tan moisturiser. It's a Garnier one for fair skin. The colour's very natural, and it made a difference from the 1st time I put it on.

Verity that's a shame to be self-conscious already. I agree that maybe it would help to draw her attention to the vast array of de-hairing products everywhere and explain that all women think that they're too hairy.

Romanarama · 08/06/2010 19:42

have sent it carciofi!

Zembo · 08/06/2010 19:43

Verity your daughter sounds stunning. Reading what you said about her really struck a chord with me; basically that was me but I couldn't talk to my mum about it (or anything else really). I don't have any hair related recollections from such an early age but I was soooo self conscious about it whilst growing up. All those communal changing rooms, having to wear skirts as part of the school uniform etc etc were really awful. Your dd is so lucky to have a mum who she can talk to, whos aware, and who will try and help her. I don't have any answers but know I'll face the same with my own dd (who is also beautiful ). Its really hard to know what to do as you don't want to reinforce that its an issue by starting to 'deal' with it by covering up etc. I've got a scar near my eyebrow from when I tried to shave them into shape as a teenager! I was already extremely self conscious due to being different (Asian) and the hair thing just made things a million times worse.

Fleecy · 08/06/2010 19:47

Anyone else had that with MW or are you all seeing the discount? Don't want to pay full price!

carciofi · 08/06/2010 19:50

Thanks Roman!

Romanarama · 08/06/2010 19:51

Fleecy there's nothing I want in my size, so don't know. You can always cancel it if it debits the whole lot.

carciofi · 08/06/2010 19:55

Fleecy, I don't see any discount either. I think I'll hang on for the NAP sale.

Fleecy · 08/06/2010 19:56

Didn't realise I could cancel. Thanks!

PlumSykes · 08/06/2010 19:57

Is there an asos code knocking about? Got a full basket, so just thought I check in before I check out.

Mumsnut · 08/06/2010 20:03

Good maxi article

www.thisislondon.co.uk/fashion/article-23842399-long-and-simple-a-class-act-for-the-maxi.do

OllieWollieWoo · 08/06/2010 20:05

Carciofi - Boden preview code is PR7V. I like the short cashmere cardi and am strangely drawn to the winter white funnel coat - am a sucker for funnelnecks tho!

Fleecy · 08/06/2010 20:08

Gah! They charged full price and phone number is going to voicemail.

Have emailed and asked them to apply the discount or, failing that, cancel the order. All that for a pair of glorified flip flops

Right then, am stalking those of you Dukan-ing. Am about to put my shop through for the beginning of July so have been avidly listing foods I can eat at the beginning and will start then.

I have a job! It's only one day a week but my clients are keeping me on so I'm happy. They offered me around 55% of my rate for 2 days a week but I said no becuase I'd have to turn down other, better paying work for it. So we've agreed one day a week at my full rate. Hurrah! Nice to have a little guaranteed income!

hells thanks for the heads-up on the NAP sale.

esher glad your DD is fine.

verity I'm sure your lovely DD will grow up with confidence over time, recognising how lucky she is to have such stunning colouring.

Dolce are you looking around Bath? I used to have family that way and it's very pricey for nice houses - especially compared to central Norfolk! Some beautiful places though.

I'm a country girl I'm afraid - I would happily live in the middle of nowhere, as long as I had enough money to pay for taxis for the odd night out Am still convinced I@m 18 sometimes.

tracey I really like that jumpsuit. And I think it would work on a sunny day with metallic flat sandals, a straw trilby and a Wang plait. Or similar...

traceybath · 08/06/2010 20:08

Romana - thanks for sewing machine link - may order that one.

Did you self-teach or did you have someone show you how to use one?

Esher - glad DD is home and doing well.

Hells - right - next monday I will be throwing DS out of the car at school and whizzing home for NAP sale. Are you Natalie Massanet? And does anyone else read US vogue - interesting article about her and NAP in the current one.

Fleecy · 08/06/2010 20:08

No code here Plum, sorry!

traceybath · 08/06/2010 20:12

OWW - I like the cropped cashmere cardigan too. Also this could be a leather jacket contender perhaps.

Fleecy - I too like rural living. See deer from my bedroom window often and not sure I could ever go back to living in town. I also like not having neighbours.

MM - how annoying about your sunglasses. And sad about friend moving - I cried when my lovely neighbours moved from our last house.

eshermummy · 08/06/2010 20:14

Carciofi - not sure there are really any areas to avoid - all depends on your budget and how near to a station you need/want to be.
Esher station isn't really in the centre of Esher so you have to make choice to be nearer the High Street or around the station.
From the Littleworth/Arbrook areas you are nearer Claygate station anyway.
Not sure if you are set on the small area I would consider "Esher" or would look further at say Claygate, Hinchley Wood, Thames Ditton? (Parts of Claygate very nice, much more villagey feel.

Schools wise, tonnes of choice: in the state sector there isn't really a bad school, they are all good.
Within Esher itself, most highly regarded is Esher Church School (ECS) but you will need to have gone to church for at least 2 years prior to entry to be sure to get a place - i.e. you must start this Sept for Sept 2012 entry. Least highly regarded is Cranmere (but imo this is undeserved). Hinchley Wood Primary also v good - think it has actually overtaken ECS in the league tables now. People are a bit disparaging about Claygate Primary but I think it is a fab school and know quite a few people with DC there who are v happy. I think Thames Ditton Infants also very good but the Juniors is separate and not quite so good?
If you are Catholic then people rave about St Pauls (on Hampton Court Way) but again you need a church ref.

Indie schools for girls:
Rowan in Claygate (all girls) - we nearly went for this and are still considering 7+ entry.
Weston Green School ( co-ed) - recently expanded from pre-prep to prep too. I would want to go and see this before I went for Rowan now.
Notre Dame (Cobham) - (all girls 3-18)
Claremont (Esher) (co-ed 3-18)
Daneshill (Oxshott) (co-ed 4-11). I have only heard good things about the school itself but the parents I know who send their kids here are a bit . Is slightly more £££ than the others and apparently quite a few celeb/footballers kids go here so it attracts some wannabes too

If I had boys I would be looking at:

Shrewsbury Lodge
Milbourne Lodge
Parkside (Cobham) - one of my best friends here has 2 boys here and is v v happy with it. Always think it seems to strike right balance between academic/sporty/pressured.
Milbourne ime does seem to attract the sorts of parents who have already planned their dc's school career/university path at age 3

Mumsnut is Esher too so might have some more to add.

Sorry if that summary is nothing more than a list of schools - on the state side it really does come down to where exactly you live as to whether you'd even get offered a place, esp if you don't go the church route.

Feel free to ask me more specific Q's if you already have an area/road in mind

Esher, thanks so much for this. I like the sound of Rowan. DD won't get into a church school as we are not religious. Thanks again. We would probably rent for a while so could move near a good state school and hope she gets in.

Fleecy, congrats on the job.

I like these leopard print plimsoles (almost afraid to link again and apologies in advance if anything untoward appears!) Ollie, thanks for the code. I like the cashmere cardigan also. And some of the Mini Boden but not as much as usual.

carciofi · 08/06/2010 20:25

Welcome back Everything, glad you had a good time.

blossoming · 08/06/2010 20:27
