shopping in leeds on a budget

hi guys

(i do remember how much you helped with DD1's dress, and i know i promised to put a pic up - but my bluetooth isnt working - just so you know i havent forgot>>

anyways....

i am off shopping this saturday in leeds with a lovely mnetter I have never been to leeds, so no idea what it is like clothes wise.

I need 2 outfits, i jeans and a top (smart for a night out), and a dress and shrug (incase i feel braver than just wearing jeans)

ideally, i would like shoes to go with both outfits, to keep the costs down

Size wise, and cost wise i guess, i am still losing weight (although very slowly) and having come down from a size 32 top/26 bottoms, i have no idea what to go for. Cant afford to buy clothes that may only last for a couple of months IYSWIM

Size wise, i am about a 16-18 bottom now, and i think a 20 on the top, so still quite large

maximum budget is £200, although if i could get it for less than that it would be fab, as my DDs would actually get fed this week

I also have very few accessories, so may need to try for some to match.

all help would be greatfully received, to save poor yank from being dragged in and out of every shop in leeds

The first ones you linked to look the most comfiest and will look lovely with jeans.

Have a lovely day, if you have to travel for some time start your day in Leeds with a coffee/tea before plunging straight in.
If you really like something but am not sure if it will really work with your other purchases later in the day ask the shop to hold it till the end of the day.
Stop for lunch. This is not to be missed. Review what you've seen. If by the end of the day you have n't found exactly what you'd like do not panic buy or get something just to make do.
The shops and your money will still be there in a months time with new and different stuff in.

Enjoy

thanks bob - sounds good. I think yank said her plan was shop, lunch, shop some more I may just suggest we sit down somewhere first and plan our attack

TC - i know what you mean about black, it seems to be all i wear. Am trying to be a bit bolder colour wise, but dont want to look like a dogs dinner

Oooh yes, I always have a coffee before I start!

Alicetheinvisible · 27/05/2010 20:12

Black is bad Jet. Very few people have the right skin tone to carry it off.

I really like the first top Bella linked to. Charcoal grey is a much softer colour and easier to wear but still 'safe' iyswim?

Love that last pair of shoes!

Lizzylou · 27/05/2010 20:13

Jet that first pair of shoes you linked to are gawjus, you have great taste!

Newlook are good on jeans as well, try a straight leg pair, dark blue or black, they'd be v flattering.

Agree, coffee breaks and lunch are essential!

jetcat · 27/05/2010 20:14

i do too alice, would the pewter colour ones go with the grey top?

They don't really need to match imo, as the jeans separate them.

What about a bag? Earrings? bracelet? I like bangles but can't get them over my mannish wide hands

jetcat · 27/05/2010 20:21

lol Lizzy - i really like them, but they dont have my size online - i will have to look instore. But, if they have them both, i may just have to have them both, as i thought i would be paying that for just one pair!

No earrings (not pierced) and i have a lovely blue and metal bracelet - which i am sure has a necklace somewhere Just cant remember where i put it. But, it is quite dark, so may need something a little brighter.

Yup i will need a bag

(thinks this is going to fun but expensive)

I got a lovely pewter clutch bag in Peacocks just before christmas for £6 there and Primark are very good for accessories as you can buy something cheap but sparkly to go with your outfit, without feeling like you could have just bought another whole outfit for the same price.

Just realised the time, DD needs to go to bed

Lizzylou · 27/05/2010 20:31

Primark is fab full stop, but crowded, go there early on if you can.
Some of my fave clothes are from Primark

traceybath · 27/05/2010 20:33

I find a glass of something sparkly helps with shopping too

Have a fab time shopping and definitely have a good look in new look and dorothy perkins - both very good at the moment.

Tis right at the top of Leeds jet, on the Headrow. Peacocks is in the Merrion Centre (not far from the Headrow)

jetcat · 27/05/2010 21:21

thanks bella

tracey - i will hit new look pretty early i think, as i like their shoes, and then i can try the shoes on with outfit choices
