If your bra underwiring digs in under the armpits where it didnt before-does this mean I need a bigger cup size or to go bigger around the back?

Also going up a back size means that I am getting fatter doesnt it? Does it?

Impossible to get a proper fitting with 3 kids in tow. Also no tape measure in the house.

Ok, then the extender should help. Would it happen to be the 36F? Although there are variations between brands/styles, the fact that some of the others are 36G makes me wonder if you needed a FF.
If the cup is a little small, your breasts will be pushing at the band of the bra, making it feel tight. Sometimes a bigger cup will do the trick, even if the smaller size appears to be fine visually.

Fab - sounds like we are the same size - 36 FF or G depending on the brand.

I recently went to Debenhams when they had a sale and got some really good bras (Panache etc) for about £10 (about 1/3 of what they would normally cost). Once you've worked out the size you are just keep an eye on the sales in your local department store as you can get some real bargains.

I am a bit confused. The black Freya 36G is tight around the band. The white Fantasie 36E isn't comfy but I had been wearing 36E fine in that the fitted around the band but didn't sit against the chest wall.

Quite a few of the Fantasie styles come up looser in the band than Freya ones, even though they are made by the same fashion house.
