Bra problems

If your bra underwiring digs in under the armpits where it didnt before-does this mean I need a bigger cup size or to go bigger around the back?

Also going up a back size means that I am getting fatter doesnt it? Does it?

Impossible to get a proper fitting with 3 kids in tow. Also no tape measure in the house.

This thread inspired me to go for a re-fit today . 34F- eek. Must lose weight.

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 22/05/2010 17:03

Hang on, will get DH to measure.

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 22/05/2010 17:06

Okay, where the band should be is 35 1/2 inches and across the middle of the breasts, the fullest part is 42 1/2 inches.

BitOfFunInTheQuattro · 22/05/2010 17:23

Try a 36" band then, and try on bras from a G to an H.

You did ask

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 22/05/2010 17:27

Bloody hell!

BitOfFunInTheQuattro · 22/05/2010 17:30

You will be much more comfortable though, and look better and slimmer in the right size.

Coderooo · 22/05/2010 17:30

"well theres your problem - you let your Dh chose your bra
"

rofl too true

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 22/05/2010 17:33

My options for shopping tomorrow are

M&S
Next
La Senza
House of Fraser
Ann Summers
BHS

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 22/05/2010 17:34

I am not letting DH be blamed for this . He always gets the size I tell him I am and remembers but obviously I am wrong .

BitOfFunInTheQuattro · 22/05/2010 17:35

Then House Of Fraser is the place for you. Don't go near the others- they have rubbish and inaccurate sizing, and most won't have what you need anyway. In particular, avoid M&S, who are the worst, as they think they are experts but are most emphatically NOT.

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 22/05/2010 17:37

I agree.

I was once in pain for days after being fitted by M&S and wearing the bra for an hour or so.

Any particular brands to aim for? They don't have the pandora one linked to up the thread which is a shame as it looks lovely.

BitOfFunInTheQuattro · 22/05/2010 17:38

The one I bought today was the Freya Charlotte in cornflower blue. Vair nice.

Coderooo · 22/05/2010 17:39

sizes schmizes though as am sure BOF will agree

BitOfFunInTheQuattro · 22/05/2010 17:41

Exactly- you have to try on, try on, try on.

The Bravissimo site has a good guide on the kind of fit you should be looking for, iirc.

Coderooo · 22/05/2010 17:41

my best on is..

brb

Coderooo · 22/05/2010 17:42

this one - ooh look a nice review by someone on it

Katymac · 22/05/2010 18:19

Oh hell - I am 33 underneath & 41 round the middle

Northernlurker · 22/05/2010 18:23

This is the thing isn't it - most of us are in bands that are too big - because the shops do them and cups that are too small - because so many places stop at either G or even DD.

BitOfFunInTheQuattro · 22/05/2010 18:48

Heh heh, have just read that review

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 22/05/2010 19:48

I just watched the Bravissimo fitting guide video and the thing that really resonates is the fact that the wires should sit against the chest wall. I used to tell the M&S staff I never got a bra that sat right against and they didn't say a thing.

Coderooo · 22/05/2010 19:50

although i would agree witht eh other reviewer that its NOT an up and at em bra

you see i am scarred by teaching hormonal teenage boys for 9 years that ANY underwear has to be utterly NON showing or suggestive, its also left me with the legacy of being ONe innuendo ahead of anyone else at any tome

marriednotdead · 22/05/2010 20:08

Evening all, time to put my feet up
MsDav, you sound as if you need a 34 band and much bigger cups. I've never seen anyone with a reduction that ended up with less than an F, and they have a bad habit of growing back, even without weight gain
Nymph- bigger cups. As you're pg, would fit on tightest back with growing room, but sounds like at least 2-3 cups up if there's that much falling out
Certain stores have a habit of fitting bands very loosely which means you have no hope of getting the right cup size either, it drives me nuts.
Fab, Bravissimo have about 20 branches now but do mail order too. If you're in London/SE come and see me. Yes, the middle should do that!

BitOfFunInTheQuattro · 22/05/2010 20:21

Did you like my new bra, mnd? I think it's quite pretty for a larger-cupped bra.

marriednotdead · 22/05/2010 20:37

BOF, it's lovely. Looks a very similar shape to Rio so I might try it. We don't sell a lot of Freya where I work as it's so easily available elsewhere- boss tries to source different brands.
Coderoo, you might like this too.

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 22/05/2010 20:55

I have looked. No branches near me . I am in Kent.
