I think finally, at age 40 I have finally got the holy grail...A CAPSULE WARDROBE

No, I cant believe it either.

Everything goes with everything. I can have funky combinations, go from day to evening, dress up, dress down.

Add accessories, take 'em away. Gok Wan would be sooo proud.

I want to clothes peg it up.

thats what careful copious shopping and ruthless chucking out does for you

KristinaM · 20/05/2010 08:53

i got that navy/white dress from marks. it was lovely but went back as it was just a tad too short for my ancient knees

would be lovely with orange cardi ( change from red)

well done cyb you are the new gok

traceybath · 20/05/2010 09:19

Middle-aged! Pah!

I am wearing a metallic loose fit vest top today and look like a pop star according to ds1.

BariatricObama · 20/05/2010 09:26

shudder @ velvet. velvet is for cat ladies.

cyb you sound a little ocd with your matchy matchy navy

DavidHameron · 20/05/2010 09:30

horizontal stripes?

BariatricObama · 20/05/2010 09:32

vertical stripes are better?

i quite like a jaunty horz. stripe myself, i feel all breton and audrey hepburn, i just make sure i don't let anyone take photos

traceybath · 20/05/2010 09:32

Horizontal stripes are more flattering than vertical ones - can't remember why but there was a feature on this on some science programme.

DavidHameron · 20/05/2010 09:37

only works if you're not wide of arse or belly...

BariatricObama · 20/05/2010 09:53

or in serious denial about width of said arse and belly

traceybath · 20/05/2010 09:56

I wear loads of stripey stuff but I am fairly small - but do think stripes are more flattering than people think.

NorkilyChallenged · 20/05/2010 09:58

TB - Horizontal more flattering than vertical was on QI that we watched recently on Dave possibly

I would love a capsule wardrobe.

Despite a year of PAYING ATTENTION on S&B, I still don't have anything to wear

traceybath · 20/05/2010 10:00

Oh yes it was QI - so not quite a science programme

dinkystinky · 20/05/2010 10:06

Cyb - if you're the new Gok are you going to change your name to Cok?

brimfull · 20/05/2010 10:08

ah but I asked Mary Portas personally doncha know and she said horizontal stripes do make you look bigger.

I always admire horizontal stripey things , you never see vertical striped stuff anywhere except mens shirts.

DavidHameron · 20/05/2010 10:22

arf at QI: yes, I'd deffo listen to Stephen Fry for fashion advice over Mary Portas...

traceybath · 20/05/2010 10:27

There was a scientific explanation I tell you

Anyway I like horizontal stripes and I do not look big in them and I should imagine Cyb looks sylph like too.

NorkilyChallenged · 20/05/2010 10:27

Ah but DavidH - it wasn't Stephen Fry, it was some professor science person in the audience who had Done The Research.

traceybath · 20/05/2010 10:28

Here

bobbiewickham · 20/05/2010 10:43

I wear horizontal stripes on my top half, balances out the wide arse.

Except for when I wear them on the bottom half as well.

Spend most of my life sitting down, so not a problem.

cyb · 20/05/2010 12:00

I am the antithesis of matchy matchy

am wearing 3/4 length sleeve embroidery anglaise cropped jacket over stripe dress and skinnies today

with aviator shades ha!

(as I type)

and yes I will be changing my name to COK

because I are one
