I think finally, at age 40 I have finally got the holy grail...A CAPSULE WARDROBE

No, I cant believe it either.

Everything goes with everything. I can have funky combinations, go from day to evening, dress up, dress down.

Add accessories, take 'em away. Gok Wan would be sooo proud.

I want to clothes peg it up.

thats what careful copious shopping and ruthless chucking out does for you

'Capsule Wardrobe' always sounds like something off Star Trek.

BoldChislersMummy · 19/05/2010 16:49

I think I'm getting better at the capsule malarkey too...... also 40 years young.. so maybe I'm tired of buying more tops like the other tops I already own?

I'm staying away from patterns now. Was always drawn to them in the past becaause I loved them, but have now realised I look totally chaotic in patterns as I'm small. No boden razzmatazz patternmania tunics for me.

It is very impressive indeed

BoldChislersMummy · 19/05/2010 17:28

do you have a 'going out coat'?

Sometimes when I put on a dress and heels and think oh I am dressed like a girl, then I have to ruin it by putting my north face coat or denim jacket or black socialist duffle coat on top of it.

That's what I need next.

CybsFunkyCombinations · 19/05/2010 17:28

yes goign out coats vital in winter imo

cocolepew · 19/05/2010 17:30

I have a staying in coat

Sazisi · 19/05/2010 17:36

staying in coat? Isn't that a bit superfluous? there's a recession on you know..

Sazisi · 19/05/2010 17:37

Cyb, I really want to know too so I can copy you. Please tell

FrakkedUpTheElection · 19/05/2010 17:42

Genuine question - isn't a capsule wardrobe rather boring and limiting?

What happens when you wake up one morning and have a desperate yearning to just be different?

janeite · 19/05/2010 17:44

Come back; come back - don't huff.

What've you got? We want descriptions/pictures on Polyvore for us all to go 'ooh' at/ideas for those of us who are 40 and still have a mad collection of silver skirts, skirts with naked men on, skirts with cowboys on, skirts with naked ladies on and NOTHING to wear on top, or to go out, or on our feet, or even to bed sometimes.

CybsFunkyCombinations · 19/05/2010 17:47

oh she is all cwoss wiht me

noddyholder · 19/05/2010 17:50

A going out coat? What other sort is there?

BudaisintheZONE · 19/05/2010 18:10

BoldChislersMummy - I love your name! My grandad used to call us the chislers.

I think a going out coat is a dressy coat - not a school run type coat.

I have a few staying in coats. I call them dressing gowns.

BoldChislersMummy · 19/05/2010 18:19

Thanks Buda

Noddy, I wouldn't call a north face padded duvet coat a going out coat. It's a leaving the house coat certainly! and if fact, in the depths of winter, perhaps in the house too.

BoldChislersMummy · 19/05/2010 18:19

An evening wear coat! Is that the word I was grappling around for.

lovingthesun · 19/05/2010 18:25

I was very excited to see the title - don't disappoint by not producing a list.....puuurlease

I am 41 & need some serious style help you see...

T'will be v. easy packing for holidays.

You know all that laying it all out on the spare room bed, counting the tops, trying to find which cardigan goes with which top/skirt etc.

You will just slip them off the hangers, close up your case and voilà!

With a little Audrey Hepburn skip !

cocolepew · 19/05/2010 19:46

You'll get bored and go and buy pink velour hot pants, mark my words
