What's a good nail colour this summer?

Going to invest in this summers first mani-pedi this weekend.

I usually go for a darker colour on my toenails and a lighter one on fingernails.
I get the impression tho that darker colours are in for fingernails.

Anyone know what the colours du jour are?

I never really deviate from good ol' Rouge Noir for toes, or coral, or red. Fingernails are more tricky as I'm not allowed to wear NV for work but I would choose a French man. or a pale pink. I don't really 'do' colours on fingernails. beige colours make my hands look grubby, only nice if you have appropriate colouring, much like the neutrals around at the moment in clothing, they look like peach and beige to me, but call them neutrals and everything's fine!

Chanel nail varnish just peels off though? I used Jessica base coat and top coat as always and it just peeled off, it lasted less than 12 hours. Has no-one else experienced this?

OPI lasts ages.

MrsShu, that mauve nail varnish is gorgeous.

Agree about Chanel, I have Red Dream but it chips so badly really quickly.

That M and S mint is pretty much the same colour as that Chanel one!

Chanel nail varnish isn't the best.

I have always found Boots No7 and Rimmel, along with Revlon to be the best, though I only stick to the light pinks.

Haven't used OPI or Essie but I hear great things.

With Chanel it's all about the hype, isn't it. It is a treat to buy them though, in their little boxes, lovely!

mostly i like strong bright colours but am awaiting from my trusty avon lady a nice pastel purple and a hot pink to contrast.

Chanel lasts a good week on my toe nails - thats 2 thin coats and some seche vite top coat.

I saw a great 8 yr old girl on the train with fab green nailvarnish. was going to tell her how fab it was and ask her where she got it. but wasn't sure if thta was o.k.
besides is green on 8 the same as green on 36 yr old ? not sure

It was a medium green. really nice.

where do you get a good green then ?

can i please have a list of the top 3, that i can buy from say boots. not too dear ? do you lot spend more than a £10 on a nailvarnish ?
