Hoodies on a 32 year old. Yay or nay?

I used to wear hoodies in my 20s as they were comfy and 'cool'. I'm not sure I feel right in them now. Am I too old to wear hoodies. (I have two nice flowery ones by roxy but not sure if I look a bit teenish in them.)

I do for those chilling out with dds days - but nice grown up wooly/cashmere type ones rather than surfy ones. I like to think I look laid back and not too 'try-hard'!

I don't see the problem with wearing hoodies in your 30's. I wear mine -mostly with either boyfriend/slouchy jeans.

They are a "can't be bothered to decide what to wear and I just need to get to school on time" default outfit or a sunday outfit. However, most days I would change out of them if I were going on to somewhere else.

I also wouldn't wear the flowery Roxy versions. I have two plain ones and an A&F one. They are fab when skiing - especially for apres ski. Comfortable and warm but definitely wouldn't wear as a "style" statement!

Well I'm in my 40's and I wear them.

As long as your comfy were what you want

KwanYin · 05/03/2010 18:38

I'm late 40's and wear O'Neill and Animal ones, both zip up and pullovers.

piprabbit · 05/03/2010 18:40

So long as it's not worn with a baseball cap and the hood up, you should be fine.

Littlepurpleprincess · 05/03/2010 18:50

What's age got to do with it? If ya like it, wear it. Sod what other people think. I think hoodies are nice.

I wear them and I'm a great deal older than 32. But then I know nothing about fashion. They are comfortable but I rarely wear the hood but.

I'll be 39 this year and I wear hoodies. Seasalt hoodie for the outdoor-sy look and this when I feel a wee bit cheeky!

Lucycat · 05/03/2010 19:03

yep go for it - I love my A&F one -grey, lovely and warm with jeans and converse.

Bicnod · 05/03/2010 19:07

I wear hoodies and I'm 31. I don't suppose I look stylish or beautiful in them (hence not often posting on these threads) but I wear them just the same.

They are particularly useful when pushing a buggy in the rain.

Hoodies rock and you should wear yours.

southeastastra · 05/03/2010 19:13

i'm 40 an wear them, so does justine from mumsnet, i saw her in one!

my mum also wore one at 68

peanutbutterkid · 05/03/2010 19:25

I don't care about what's fashionable... but I am peeved at the hood part of hoodies. What's the point? Who over 25 ever wears it hood up? It's just extraneous fabric.

I was so pleased to manage to buy a sweatshirt without a hood the other week.

EggyAllenPoe · 05/03/2010 19:38

i do wear the hood up sometimes..though i agree that to match a nice outfit you want something woolly looking (even if it is actually acrylic)rather than jersey. If you actually spend time anyhere coastal, all the better - certainly the pub in Cornwall everyone wear hoodies of some kind regardless of age.

great for summer evenings outdoors to keep my wittle ears warm.

i find annoying when the hood isn't large enough to circumnavigate my bonce.

I wear hoodies and am in my 30s. I wear the hood up if it is cold and I am walking the dogs. It is a practical item of clothing.
