...I luuuuurve them.

They are the "khakis" range currently at front of store in Gap.

25 quid....and just felt lovely and soft and fitted like a glove.

I can see my jeans going back in the wardrobe...

AF - I find myself strangely drawn to these. Would they suit a size 12 pear do you think? Still carrying some excess from dc3, but that should be off by summer. I guess the qu' is - are they forgiving on a big butt do you think?

traceybath · 04/03/2010 18:16

I ordered those from asos last week after Fleecy recommended them but found them quite big but then I'm only 5ft.

I think they perhaps suit taller ladies better - seem to think you're tall AF and I know LTEC is.

I did buy some skinny khaki jeans in Zara instead which I will wear rolled up with heels/clogs come the spring.

sweetheart · 04/03/2010 18:23

I brought these today - they are like chino material and have no pockets so they are really nicely fitted around the waist.

AnyFucker · 04/03/2010 18:52

like you, ltec, I am tall and a size 12

they are quite roomy, meant to be loose fitting (so, so soft, though)

my shoulders and butt are quite wide, I think, but not sticky-outty a la Jennifer Lopez stylee

I am wide but not very deep front-to-back so have wide hips but flat tummy and bum IYSWIM (just call me shallow...)

tracey, I think you are right, they might "drown" a petite lady

OP posts:
Iatemyskinnyperson · 06/03/2010 10:20

Heartbroken at last comments about drowning petite gels. I had ASOS open and these in shopping basket, but am only 5'4". Feck, I really wanted these. Please someone else chime in and say it aint so... sigh

What would you wear with these anyway?? Classic white shirt/tee light knit?

tulpe · 06/03/2010 14:24

Thank you SO much, AF for your recommendation on these trousers

They are such a great and flattering fit. They are looser than I expected but they are fabulous shape - slouchy without being saggy.

Looked good with tan heeled sandals and ballet flats/flat sandals. T-shirts, fine knits, fitted and more smock-type shirts all look fab (I tried them on with virtually every top I own )

Can't wait to wear them

One question for you AF: Were yours very creased when you bought them? When these arrived from ASOS they were wrapped up in a tight bundle and creased. Presumably one should iron the trousers before wearing

Iatemyskinnyperson - I would still try them despite your reservations re: height. I am 5'6" and "blessed" (ahem) with short legs They actually elongate my leg and are far more flattering than many of the carrot or peg shapes which are in the stores now.

Iatemyskinnyperson · 06/03/2010 21:55

Thanks Tulpe, thats all the encouragement I need!

isthatporridgeinyourhair · 08/03/2010 14:10

Good call, AF . Went to Gap in RL today and they are lovely. They had some other nice stuff in too.

Iatemyskinnyperson - would agree with Tulpe - I'm 5ft5 and they looked fine.

SweetCecily · 08/03/2010 18:28

I too have just bought them after reading this thread and just happened to saunter past GAP and at 5'4" they are perfect on me - very slimming and elongating in the leg and love the fabric.

I got them in the pale beige but think I will also get the khaki though is a slightly different style.

Some were creased on the hangers and others very pressed - versatility???

MamaG · 08/03/2010 18:31

lol cyb I'll be tweedledee, I'm like that

AnyFucker · 08/03/2010 18:59

I think they are meant to look slightly crumpled...tis the style

I nearly bought another pair today

I tried the smaller size, as the size 12's I wore at the weekend did "give" quite a lot and I had a horrible thought I should have bought the 10's

however, I tried the 10's on today and they were far too close-fitting...especially around the crutch and up the bum IYSWIM...the style is meant to loose, slouchy and crumpled, not tight and camel-toe definitely not the right look at all

I'm having lipo on Wednesday so I'll see you in Gap after that

NumberOneEnemy · 08/03/2010 19:10

you arent

Nidsnay · 08/03/2010 20:59

I've ordered the same pair from Asos in a 10 after I saw an ad flash up somewhere. I've also ordered these as well when I saw someone in town looking very smart in something similar. Should be turning up this week.

I hope this particular size 10 fits me as it can be a bit hit and miss depending on style, bit if they're slouchy than it should be ok. Will also report back on fit etc.

AnyFucker · 08/03/2010 21:20

I wonder why Gap don't have a UK website....

OP posts:
Nidsnay · 09/03/2010 19:47

Got both pairs today and the size 10 in the navy style as per my link were fine.

The size 10 in the OP's link were far too tight however. Now unsure whether to swap for the 12 instead as may end up being a bit loose around the waist and as they're hipsters that may cause a problem.

SuSylvester · 09/03/2010 19:49

are you normally a 12?

SuSylvester · 09/03/2010 19:49

liek the navy ones

Nidsnay · 09/03/2010 20:40

I can wear a 10 in Gap, but it depends on the style. As the khaki/beige ones are hipsters, they're more unforgiving and there's less material due to the slimmer style.

The navy ones are a fuller cut and therefore the 10 seems relatively bigger due to the style.

KristinaM · 10/03/2010 14:46

thanks for this thread. i got them today on 30% off event and agree, they are lovely. i got the washed out black ones

yes they are meant to be creased - at least all the ones in the shop were

agree sizing is generous - i am a gap size 9 and the 8s were fine

all I need now is styling tips please, for a non chino kinda gal
