no we must stop this trend!!!! looks nice on youngish girls, but not on older rounder laydeees IMO. Have seen hundreds already today, let's be different!

lunavix · 12/07/2005 15:25

I've got the browny gypsy skirt with no belt. Am quite happy.

northerner · 12/07/2005 15:26

I have brown and white gypsy skirts. Must confess to wearing them with a belt and a strappy vest top.

gingerbear · 12/07/2005 15:27

Victim
Especially if like me your 'arse is the size of a small country'

FrenchGirl · 12/07/2005 15:27

ah you see brown no belt sounds good to me, it's all that david hamilton virginal white gipsy skirt big belt stuff I am beginning to hate!!!
sure you look great in brown

lunavix · 12/07/2005 15:27

Mine's the size of a 'small county' hence the skirt in brown as white is most definately unflattering.

FrenchGirl · 12/07/2005 15:27

oops northerner.....

ninah · 12/07/2005 15:28

it's not you, it's nasty

charleepeters · 12/07/2005 15:28

I love the skists but i am short so i dont think they suit me, i have one chunky belt but its not a circly one i pair it with my 3/4 length jeans i think it looks good for summer, i may be wrong but i dont give a monkeys, i love the gypsie look though howere being short and slightly podgy i doesnt work for me

northerner · 12/07/2005 15:29

Went to a BBQ on Sunday wearing my white one. Dh's step Gran (she's 91) retorted 'what are you wearing? - looks like the petticoat I wore under my wedding dress'

gingerbear · 12/07/2005 15:29

lunavix, only a county? mine is heading towards a sub-continent - Australasia perhaps.

northerner · 12/07/2005 15:30

Well I like the look. I will continue to wear the gypsey look with pride.

dillydally · 12/07/2005 15:32

The combination of specifically the white skirts and those belts is starting to be a Londontown uniform and I am standing out like an old fart refusing to conform.
My arse is the size of Monaco.

charleepeters - yes, at 5 ft 3 and ahem a bit over the 8 stone weightwatchers tell me I'm meant to be I think I am the wrong shape for the look

gingerbear - yes, I'd say my arse is the size of a small county hence I think I can get away with the brown gypsy skirt, but not the white!!!

dillydally · 12/07/2005 15:33

My DD has one in bright green - we team it with fake birkenstocks and no belt.

it's the belt that does it ... eeuhw
I've got a v pale beige gypsy skirt and a big pregnant belly for my barefoot in the kitchen look

aloha · 12/07/2005 15:39

Given away all my tiered gypsy skirts to charity shop! Not only did I look the size of small planet in them, I do think they are too ubiquitous now, sadly.

oliveoil · 12/07/2005 15:41

i have a drop waisted one fom asda, so not quite gypsy.

no caps, eating magnum icecream mmmmmm, typing 1 handed

dramaqueen72 · 12/07/2005 15:42

I've got a black maternity one, also good for my barefoot and pg look ninah . not keen on the white ones +circley belt thingy tho tbh.

lilibet · 12/07/2005 15:42

I do feel that I am the only person under the age of 60 who doesn't own a white skirt!

oliveoil · 12/07/2005 15:43

white would get minging too quick imo

slurrrrrrrp

Blossomhill · 12/07/2005 15:43

I did like the belts but now I see them everywhere and so think they look cheap and plastic!
