Have been dragged in there by DD. Cards are hurting in consequence.

I have reached my own conclusions on this shop but I want to know what knowledgeable mners think of it.

Teenagers with rich parents and not a great deal of originality. Ouch - sorry.

SixtyFootDoll · 07/02/2010 22:19

Is he Bruce's son?
Never heard of him.

Heathcliffscathy · 07/02/2010 22:19

do you want the censored answer having seen it's your dd or the real one that first came to mind when i read it in active convos?

MarionCole · 07/02/2010 22:20

Bear in mind that I am way out of touch, however:

Bit of a wannabe Abercrombie & Fitch, very overpriced and not very original.

Quattrocento · 07/02/2010 22:21

No censored answer

Just the god's honest truth, please

Over-priced preppy stuff, much-prized by the kids I teach (well, a certain subgroup of them anyway). Having said that, I think I'd let a teenager of mine have a couple of strategic pieces just for the cachet - teens move in mysterious ways.

Nevergoogledragonbutter · 07/02/2010 22:23

Preppy clothes for preppy girls/boys with rich parents who give their kids credit cards and side partings that start just above their ear.
Tis aspirational for teens though.

KeithTalent · 07/02/2010 22:23

Boring clothes for posho teens

SixtyFootDoll · 07/02/2010 22:24

Just googled it
A bit HoorayHenry?

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 07/02/2010 22:24

DH loves most of the clothes but he has always aspired to the preppy overly rich floppy haired look.

Heathcliffscathy · 07/02/2010 22:24

ahem. OKAYYY

my FIRST thought on reading the thread title was: it's for public school twats with loads of money and NO fashion sense whatsoever. it is british abercrombie. it is rah rah uniform, which hasn't changed since I went to (a very public school) uni in the early 90s. for people that just want to blend blend blend and have no individuality at all.

sorry quattro!

oh, also, it is massively overpriced!

TheFallenMadonna · 07/02/2010 22:24

Identikit rah.

GetOrfMoiLand · 07/02/2010 22:25

It costs a FORTUNE

DD loves it.

I will say this - most of the kids at Cheltenham College and Cheltenahm Ladies wear this stuff. It is the uniform for privileged teens.

For a cheaper US version of this look, get ye to Hollister, it is a Californian Abercromboie esque shop. T shirts are £20, hoodies/sweattops/jogging bottoms £40, as opposed to the heinous prices they charge in Jack Wills.

Quattrocento · 07/02/2010 22:25

Well my honest opinion is that I have never seen such a load of overpriced flipping tat in all my born days

University outfitters my arse. It's for girls who like to cheer on macho rugby players, surely?

Preppy is okay in the US just about, but here in Blighty, preppy seems to mean "I have no taste, originality, style or fashion sense but I like wasting large sums of money".

hahaha! we agree!!!

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 07/02/2010 22:27

Tend to agree with Janeite, we have a store here in Cheltenham, only go in to ogle lithe young male assistants buy presents for teenagers.

Seems to be the weekend attire for Cheltenham College, and Ladies College.

janeite · 07/02/2010 22:28

One of the worst sights I have seen in my life was an old, grey haired woman in Harrogate, coming out of Jack Wills, clad in tenny tiny tartan shorts and a Jack Wills hoodie.

I am astonished that anybody is willing to buy it tbh.

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 07/02/2010 22:28

X post with GetOrf.

TheCrackFox · 07/02/2010 22:28

It's all very Prince Harry.

GetOrfMoiLand · 07/02/2010 22:29

Hollister

I went in the one in Cabot Circus in Bristol at Christmas - it is the kind of shop teens love - all gorgeous staff, mood lighting, tables full of jumpers and posters of beautiful youths all over the place.

And as I said - cheap(er)

GetOrfMoiLand · 07/02/2010 22:30

Lol Boiledegg!

Yes you go into the Cheltenham store, it is full of girls with Diana Vickers scruffy haircuts, all rah over a £220 stripy duvet cover.

MillyR · 07/02/2010 22:31

I think it is losing status for teenagers. It is becoming for younger teenagers rather than University students. I have asked this before but didn't get a response - can I buy Abercrombie in the UK Online (for DS, not me!)?

Quattrocento · 07/02/2010 22:31

Soph, you aren't saying anything that I wasn't thinking today, sitting on their vile leather sofas, artistically ripped, with union jack cushions (WTF) watching DD trying on a denim mini skirt which would normally serve as a belt, unhemmed, poor quality and a staggering £69.

I think these teens are bonkers, don't you?

She wanted to match it with a tweed jacket (in no way did these two pieces sit together in harmony or contrast, they just looked as though the wearer had no style WHATSOEVER) which cost £229.

Now is this mad or is this mad?

What happened to Oxfam shops and cutting up old skirts and shabby chic?

OP posts:
Heathcliffscathy · 07/02/2010 22:32

for those prices you could go to fucking harvey nicks ffs!!!
