Ladies, welcome to Spring

OP posts:
dexter73 · 07/02/2010 15:13

GW - I tried the Warehouse kimono dress on today and it looked lovely and was very flattering on a pear shape. I decided not to get it as it is a bit dressy and I just wouldn't get any wear out of it.

blossoming · 07/02/2010 16:53

Hi all, hope you're all well, puke fest over ltec? Thanks for the link to the mint top. I'll wait for my colours done before I venture into fuschia!
Shocking IL behaviour verity. I really thought mine were bad. Actually they are but now's not the time..
Really happy you like the M&S jeans georgina. If it helps anyone else, I'm a size 14, 5,7 and bought the 14L.
The expensive version of these jeans are these, but venture at own risk! Mine are a 32, cost £148 with postage (duty still to come), arrived in 3 working days. Are tighter on the leg than the M&S ones but have got a classic rise. There, no more jeans talk.
Choo I really feel for you with a LO in hospital. I've spent months with dc2 in icu/hdu.
e-bay total is now £140! Trying to reach £500 before my London trip in a month .

carciofi · 07/02/2010 17:01

Hellesbelles, thank you! I think the t-shirt would work well with jeggings.

Verity, that is really awful. My ILs are nice, but they are in Ireland. Absence makes the heart grow fonder!

I was disappointed with the Alexa bag (phew) so now I can stop obsessively checking my-wardrobe.com. I didn't like the gingerbread colour and thought it was a bit fussy. Even the sales assistant said it wasn't great leather. I decided on the East-West Bayswater and am going back to buy it next weekend (combination of ebay sales/bday present from DH).

I bought navy skinny trousers from an Australian brand called Nobody and also got a top in LK Bennett so it was not a wasted journey.

Must make dinner now, have a good evening ladies.

blossoming · 07/02/2010 17:12

I think this might be the top

carciofi · 07/02/2010 17:17

Blossoming, I like it. amex20 for 20% off, think it still works.

traceybath · 07/02/2010 17:34

Carciofi - I love my east west bayswater - which colour are you getting? Those trousers sound nice too.

Am still waiting for my jeans - may email revolve tomorrow - have you got yours yet?

Hells - love that top.

Blossoming - lovely jeans.

Verity - oh my god - I remember that thread - does your DH feel remorse now?

GeorginaWorsley · 07/02/2010 18:45

Thanks dexter.
I am thinking of one of the Warehouse ones, probably and hopefully the Kimono one,and the Oasis one for everyday.
Am attending a 50th birthday in march and the Kimono one would be great for that.
Today am wearing the Next jeggings as recommended I think by tracey.
They are great!look just like jeans, but super soft and comfortable.I should have got them earlier in the season.
Am wearing with
Brown Autograph biker boots
Topshop white scoop neck tee
Navy and grey Oasis waterfal cardigan
brown/navy/cream necklace from East.

dexter73 · 07/02/2010 18:59

Actually I have now ordered the dress! My dh kept going on about how nice it looked and it is my birthday in 10 days. I think it could be ok for everyday with a ls top underneath and boots. I am glad I got it as it was really nice on.

hellsbelles · 07/02/2010 19:22

dexter - bet you look amazing in it.

THanks for the votes on the top - I'm glad I"m not going bonkers.

Blossoming I love those jeans too!

Tracey - have your 7/8ths arrived yet. They haven't got my size but I am lusting after them...can't wait to hear your review.

I ended up getting a denim skirt from gap. It's not perfect by any means, but it will do. But most importantly - it is a size 10 Yes yes I know Gap size big...but allow me my pleasure at momentarily being a size 10

carciofi · 07/02/2010 19:23

Hi Tracey, nothing yet, I hope no postmen are trying to squeeze into our jeans. I just checked the dispatch email again and it said that the order should have arrived by 6th Feb. Will give it a few more days.

I'm going to get the bag in oak, so I can wear it with black. It is lovely in the chocolate brown as well.

Georgina, I like your outfit.

GeorginaWorsley · 07/02/2010 19:28

Thankyou carciofi
A bit of a thrown together outfit, but it works!
I find sometimes the more I pnder and preen in something, the less I feel comfortable in it,ifyswim.

traceybath · 07/02/2010 19:40

Hells - I think the 7/8 should arrive tomorrow or tuesday - I'd got them on my wish list and they came back into stock.

Carciofi - I love the oak too. I really would like another oak coloured bag but have the phoebe from a few years back which I may re-use this summer.

Just been reading Easy Living and Red - don't normally buy those magazines and to be honest thought the features were pants but the fashion pages were good. I do now wish that I had a Banana Republic and Cos within easy reach though.

hellsbelles · 07/02/2010 19:47

Tracey I'll do that then - I didn't realise that was how to find out if they got back in stock. I never did track down how to go on the wait list for the white Halston...did you manage to?

I guess we are spoilt with NAP in London...if you order before midday you get them the same day?!

I agree on Banana Republic and Cos. I came across BR years ago when I had to travel a lot to the US and it was fantastic - I was able to get a smart working wardrobe on a very tight budget. I still haven't had a chance to check out the London ones. Must!

traceybath · 07/02/2010 19:55

Hells - I just emailed nap and they emailed back saying they'd reserve me the HH dress or rather add me to the waiting list.

It'll probably look horrid though but am going to have to try it .

I too bought stuff for work in the US from banana republic - am amazed they haven't opened more shops around the uk yet.

GeorginaWorsley · 07/02/2010 19:59

tracey I read both of those,Red is probably my favourite of the two as the fashion is slightly more accessible
I quite like 'She' for fashion as well.
Oh,and I saw a few dresses in 'Look' this week also, and 'Heat'.Both of these are DD1's magazines,I must add.

mrsjuan · 07/02/2010 19:59

Evening all. I think this thread must be passing on germs along with fashion device because on Friday night, at DH's grandparents' house DD had her first ever bout of night time throwing up . all over her travel cot, then all over me, then all over the room . Thankfully she was fine the next morning, back to he happy self and blowing kisses to everyone (so cute) but DH and I were quite worried during the night and she couldn't have chosen a worse time or place! (Well, she could but lets not think about that)

I can't open many of the links for some reason but I love the dress from Browns, the warehouse kimono one and the Oasis bretton one whoever linked those.

Hells - I love gap for feel good sizing

Tracey - tell me everything about the Phoebe. I know they're discontinued now but I like the idea of having one because that's DD's name - bit corny I know but there you go (love how we're all slowly outing ourselves on this thread )

I think I've finally found some boots that satisfy my requirements (not having quite the budget or the calves for Tracey's gorgeous Belstaff ones

They are these.

My only issue with them is that the heel looks a bit chunky but I think they'll work well considering I need to cover a fair distance in them. They've got them on offer on another website for £65 so quite a bargain too.

hellsbelles · 07/02/2010 20:00

oh briliant - I'll do that then - thanks. I reckon it'll look amazing on both of us (even though we are opposites )

traceybath · 07/02/2010 20:05

Georgina - I believe you regarding Heat being your dd's magazine . I used to buy it when getting train to work from Bath to Bristol as would have read it cover to cover during the 10minute journey.

MrsJ - poor DD and poor you!

My phoebe is very battered as ds1 spilt a cup of juice all over it when he was small - the leather never recovered. I'll have to dig it out and have a good look at it to describe it properly - it was quite heavy I seem to remember though.

Have you spoken to mulberry about them getting one for you - the factory shop at Shepton Mallett may have one . . .

Think those boots look very nice - are you back to work soon and how are you getting on spending your new clothes budget?

LetThemEatCake · 07/02/2010 20:18

haven't had a chance to catch up on all the new posts but hells - I was eyeing up that E&J origami tee t'other day - quelle surprise eh??

get it!! I can't afford it so will live vicariously through you

dexter73 · 07/02/2010 20:27

Nice boots mrsjuan - I do like buckles on boots.

VerityBrulee · 07/02/2010 21:00

MrsJuan, my dd is Phoebe too! I bought her a chocolate Mulberry Phoebe a few years ago and put it away for her. Poor poppet (your Phoebe), I hope she's recovered now

Tracey, no I still haven't forgiven dh!

LTEC, I made the courgette cupcakes today for after lunch, and they were such a success I made the almond and apricot tart with squash for after dinner, mitigated the healthiness of the cake by eating it with double cream, oops.

traceybath · 07/02/2010 21:04

Oooh verity - I made the light chocolate cake yesterday and am going to make the couregette cupcakes this week. Is this from the harry eastwood book?

VerityBrulee · 07/02/2010 21:14

Yes, same book! Only problem is that dc won't eat them if they know there's courgette in them so I had to make them secretly, and them dd was upset because she hadn't helped. On the other hand, she ate 4 in a row! They do have a slight green tinge, so if your dc like icing, a little drizle would disguise that. They are really light, and very virtuous

BTW ladies someone is selling a Pure cashmere dress on ebay here

LetThemEatCake · 07/02/2010 21:49

hi ladies - thanks all for your nice thoughts about my ds and the SE London vomfest ... he's been fine today, a bit off his food but fine. We went to lunch with some friends - 6 adults, 8 kids, was chaos, not like the good old days!! Lots of fun though and seriously yummy food .. the only thing was that the other two girls and I were all in brown/ neutral outfits and I suddenly felt a bit "oh god, here comes middle age" and longed for a bit of colour. It's fair to say that I am completely over all of my AW clothes, over the restrictions of bfing and DYING for warm weather & light nights to happen!! I am even sick of BOTH my Tam Tam dresses!!

tracey I think that jacket will look fabulous on my mental image of you

Nice boots mrsJ and I am sorry to hear about your dd - hope the grandparents rose to the challenge and took care of the laundry .. selfishly, part of my desire for my dd's and ds's speedy recoveries was a desire to not have to deal with scraping vomit off bedclothes before putting in the machine

Verity OH MY GOD. That inlaws story really takes the courgette cupcake. Bloody outrageous. I would never forgive an of them. Bad enough to leave out your LO but when it becomes apparent that your good nature is being abused, it's even worse
I rarely have these situations, since I am sadly lacking in the good nature department ... but I get very hearing about them.

Love buying the Phoebe bc of having dd by same name .. part of my determination to have an Oushka Phoenix was because my dd is called Phoenix. And ds 2&3 would have been Anoushka if a girl!!

tracey - I made the light choc cake for my birthday. The heartache one is rather less virtuous but very yum .Do you ladies love the pictures in the book? Cupcakes in dollhouses, genius!!

Am now virtually a long-boot free zone, having sold my last but one pair on ebay tonight ... failed miserably with boots this winter, the only ones I liked and have kept were the £28-off-ebay ones. Typical. What a waste of money. Must try harder next year. If Belstaff do any in my size ....
