Has anyone tried this? I have read about the one at Daniel Hersheson in London, but it really is expensive. Is it worth it? Does it look strange when your hair starts growing?

gleegeekgleek, try joico kpak treatment as a conditioner. It's only available in a few places in the UK, so hunt around online. I get my mum to bring a massive bottle which lasts about 2 years when she comes to the UK.

I've had my hair straightened with Yuko and grew it out as it was too straight. If you weren't happy with Brazilian treatment, using the joico kpak conditions and repairs hair unlike any other product i've used.

On the downside, i heard that years back Joico used to test on animals. They may have rectified this since. (about a decade ago).

I had it done about three weeks ago

I think it was a big waste of money but then my hair is not that frizzy to begin with, my hairdresser talked me into it.

My hair looks marginally sleeker but only marginally

Not worth it imo

DastardlyandSmugly · 10/06/2010 12:08

My SIL's sister actually does this at the saoln she works at on the King's Road. She has it done and her hair loks beautiful all the time. I'd really love it.

MagalyZz · 10/06/2010 12:49

thanks mrsshackleton and dastardlyandmustardly

I'd want to see a very definitely improvement if I forked out what is for me a lot of cash!

anybody else ?

ColdBunny · 10/06/2010 16:24

I had mine done on 28th February more or less. By now, it is wearing off, but it is still better than before I had it done. My hair is sleeker and it dries smooth much easier than before. The important thing is to use only sulfate-free shampoo after the treatment, so that the keratin doesn't wash off and it keeps for much longer. I am having it done again at Toni and Guy for almost half the price in my little town (some special introductory offer)

Thanks for that ColdBunny! it sounds like it lasted a good while for you. how much did they charge you for the special shampoo if you don't mind my asking another question!?!

also, would you think that if you don't wash your hair very often it lasts longer?

bethyrose · 10/06/2010 19:28

I had my Yuko done here. Worked brilliantly for me.

resurrecting the thread yet again.

anyone had the semi-perm blow dry since they last posted?

PuppyMonkey · 30/11/2010 11:36

I had it done free for a newspaper feature (I write for a local paper). Had it done July 2 and I'd say it lasted till the beginning of September. Bit disappointed tbh as I'd heard the stories about 4/5 months. During those 2 months, it was completely wonderful. Dried in about 2 mins, just wafting it under the hairdryer. Sleek all the time. I used the special non sulphate shampoos to keep it lasting longer etc etc. But it just went kapput.

I'd intended to go back and pay full whack to have it done again, but tbh for 2 months, it's not worth it. My hair wasn't particularly curly or frizzy before either, just generally looked a bit unkempt unless I spent ages with the straighteners. Ah well.

CakeandRoses · 04/12/2010 10:32

Thanks puppy. Yeah, 2 months isn't really worth it.

why isn't there a true miracle for hair?

ChippedChinaTeacup · 04/12/2010 10:50

had the Coppola version done yesterday, it's VERY straight at the moment but I've to go back on wednesday for it to be washed and blow dried and we'll know the final result then.. can't wait :o

Meanwhile I've been told NOT to wash it or get it wet and if it gets any kinks in it to attack them with hair straighteners.

So far my wild, coarse, frizzy hair is much softer and shinier than before and it only took me 10 mins to run the straighteners over the whole lot where previously it would have easily been a 3 hour job!

I'll post again on Wednesday after it's washed etc :)

CakeandRoses · 04/12/2010 13:06

good luck chipped, will be interested to hear its progress!

ChippedChinaTeacup · 05/12/2010 17:14

So far it's very glossy, still straight and the kinky bits from sleeping on it are very minor.. previously my hair would not survive being slept on without being a hideous tangly mess in the morning.

I've also had my eyebrows waxed and my nails Shellac'ed, very unusual for me to fritter money on such vanity, gawd help me if DP ever finds out I've spent the best part of £300 on grooming, lol

CrimboCakeandRoses · 08/12/2010 11:19

wow - you're well-groomed. sadly, since dc2 4 months ago, i'm falling apart!

ChippedChinaTeacup · 09/12/2010 12:18

I went back yesterday to have it washed and blow dried, of course it looked fab when the hairdresser did it, lol.

Today it's very shiny and my curls which were poodle-like before are now big, soft, loose ones. It is very very soft, whereas before it felt quite coarse and I keep swishing my head around cos it's such a novelty Blush

I think it will take me some getting used to but I do think I like it :o

She warned me that the salt in normal shampoos would kill off the keratin so avoid, also sea water. But I've got a big bottle of special shampoo and conditioner as part of the deal so that's sorted.

CrimboCakeandRoses · 09/12/2010 12:27

Sounds amazing! If you remember, I'd be keen to hear how it progresses!

ChippedChinaTeacup · 09/12/2010 12:32

I'll try :)

I just need to get used to it falling differently and not needing to fight with it for an hour each morning... oh the hardship :o

Oh, she also said that it would gradually wear off after 4-6 months, so no weird root regrowth, just the curls would come back to their original state.
