good buys for me:
Ash trainers - am so glad I bought two pairs, one black, one silver
Isabella Oliver cable cosy - have worn it to death
North Face parka thingy - has reconciled me, somewhat, to the cold
cashmere wrsitwarmers - warm hands without being slippy on the steering wheel
cashmere Travelwrap - just too lovely for words

waste of money:
long black boots - have hardly worn them, will ebay them in the next few days
DKNY cosy - gorgeous but too flappy, drives me mad, but would love to wear it sans children (say, 2020??)
Boden Henley dress - the buttons didn't come down far enough for bfing, have sold it now.

how about you?

Jaja's - love that jumper - can see it looking great with loads of stuff, I thought you were going to link to one of the asymmetric, backless, cropped, seams on the outside numbers !!!!

The only trouble with All Saints for me is that it has made me break my own self-imposed ban on any more black clothes but on the whole I'm with Jaja's - I wouldn't wear it head to toe (not keen on any of the trousers or coats tbh) but I'd rather supplement my look with All Saints than Boden.

best - a cheap grass green cardi from next.

poinsettydawg · 30/12/2009 23:58

and also best - bracelets and ear rings bought this year, mainly green, red and grey

LetThemEatCake · 31/12/2009 00:13

tracey - if you end up liking American Vintage, there's more on sale here

I bought this one recently and the colour is lovely - never fails to get compliments.

Not sure when brora sale starts, but am holding out hopes of getting another cardigan!

GeorginaWorsley · 31/12/2009 09:54

Late to this thread but have to agree with Jajas re waterfall cardigans.
Bought navy fabstretch one from Kew in Sept which I have worn loads,is thin enought o wear all year round and great over thr White Stuff tunics I also succumbed to!
Also bought similar White Stuff 'Earl Grey' charcoal drapey cardigan.
Also agree re merino tights from Autograph, they make wearing dresses a pleasure!
For 2010 am on a mission to buy very little, will add a couplw of White Stuff tunics/dresses for summer though!
Also will need a pair of summer shoes/sandals that have a comfortable heel/wedge,look for these every year but never find any!

EldonAve · 31/12/2009 10:00

good buys

  • waterfall cardis from Oasis
  • black biker boots

not good cost per wear

  • sequin blazer - haven't worn it yet
carciofi · 31/12/2009 10:52

This thread is giving me great ideas.
My best buys:
DKNY cozy
Mulberry messenger bag, use it all the time
Paige blue heights skinny jeans

Not so good:
Russell and Bromley biker boots, slight case of buyer's remorse for spending so much, especially now that I am saving for a new Mulberry Alexa bag

Wedge heels that I could not walk in and push the pram at the same time, maybe I'll get more use out of them next summer.

Am planning on buying very little for S/S 10... Bought loads of stuff in the sales in Australia beginning of 09 and then found out I was pregnant. So all virtually unworn and am dying to wear it, love Sydney clothing.. Lots of Leona Edmiston, Lover, bare legs, red pedis, woo hoo bring it on!!!!

My best buys:
-mn bargain black fly mols , have worn them with everything.
-boden washed velvet wide leg trousers. Very comfy and flattering.
-half carat diamond earrings, I wear them most days so well worth the money.
-north face arctic parka, super warm whatever the weather

my bad buys:
-2 pairs of uggs. I like them and they are very warm but most of time I don't wear them for fear of them getting wet or dirty. So not worked out well at all on cost per wear.

KristinaM · 31/12/2009 11:30

jagas - i have quite a few all saints jumpers/cardis, none of which are black (although they are not exactly bright colours - navy, charcoal, beige and brown)

i also wear then with more conservative stuff as i am positively middle aged

i have my eye on a dress which is not yet in the sale. most of the sale dresses are too body con for me ( mummy tummy)

I like this and a bargain at £24 but 8 will not go over norks and black not good next to face

Flame · 31/12/2009 11:35

Black hooded cardigan from new look - has been worn to death
weirdy tunic thing from next (never found it on the site, was in the shop for one day...) - wore it through pregnancy, before and after.

waste of money:
green heels - they are lovely shoes, but far too high for me to wear much.

Flame · 31/12/2009 11:36

Oooh and my two R&P bras

GeorginaWorsley · 31/12/2009 11:40

TheChristmasHour,I have Boden velvet widelegs from last year and year before,in slate and heather colour, and agree they are flattering and comfortable.
My trouble is too many clothes, not worn enough,IFYSWIM.
Mission for 2010,buy less,wear more

BadRomance · 31/12/2009 11:52

chloe grey slouchy dress- worn every week
zara black cashmere long sleeved dress - another staple
Navy wool jacket with turquoise and gold buttons from a vintage shop - love it
Agent Provocateur suck it all in pants - genius

Not so good - Several pairs of Jeans - I never wear them no idea why I keep buying them.

TheChristmasHour · 31/12/2009 12:20

Georgina, I am planning on only buying key pieces for 2010. I have enough clothes as well. Could see me being tempted to another pair of the widelegs come boden autumn discount/ preview though, lol....

GeorginaWorsley · 31/12/2009 12:36

I will try to buy only what I need.....Would like more 'up to date' jeans,as mine are all bootcut/wieleg,apart from afore mentioned New Look skinnies...
May even try Oasis jeggings that everyone here raves about.
However, with the (distant) promise of spring ,jeggings will be redundant, won't they??

LetThemEatCake · 31/12/2009 12:48

I notice that quite a few people have listed DKNY cozyas a best buy, while I've put it in my worst .... Do any of you have v.small children or am I getting it wrong in some other way??
