I haven't got a huge budget and I'm really struggling to find some jeans.

So if you are petite, where do you get your jeans from?

I buy monsoon from e bay - tend to go for a good cheapish bid !!

Was in M&S today. Tried on loads of their jeans includ Portofino ? None fitted. Their classic pair was too big in a 14 but too small in a 12, but I bought the 12 in desperation. The woman sat on the settee with ds said "oh don't you just hate buying jeans, so difficult", to which I responded with a confirmational grunt.
I am an 5'2" hourglass figure, with tiny waist and HUGE hips. I have about 3 or 4 inches of material hanging on my botton, where it does not fit me round the waist.
Then off to New Look. For these HULA jeans. That have now been re-named Yes-Yes. Same. Non fitting. inches of material at waist, hanging over my bottom.

I don't know where to try next. These M&S ones I had , that they have now stopped doing, were 'classic',and had an elasticated waist. They are hanging off me. But I have now realised this is not due to weight loss, but just getting really baggy over the years.

Oh , I just want a decent fitting pair of jeans. Seems its too much to ask.

Have you tried AWear - an Irish clothing store? Don't have a lot of stores in the UK yet, but they do the shorter sizes and not all their jeans designed to fit skinny teenagers. Bit more expensive though around £25. www.awear.com/page/home

Thanks SDR will give them a try too, a branch has recently opened in the nearest city to us.

Vanload, really wish I could fit into 30" jeans then all my problems would be over! The last pair of Wranglers I had (pre-DCs) were 26" and they fitted me perfectly. Was going to go back to the Wrangler shop in the Trafford Centre it has closed down

I get all mine from sainsburys - I know they fit me well and are very inexpensive, especially if you buy on a 25% off weekend.

I bought my last pair from very.co.uk (Littlewoods online). There is a brand called South and it was the Mason bootcut style - I bought all three colours as they are a good it. I am short and have hips ana a bum, so to get them to fit me I usually have a big gaping hole at the back! Not with these ones as they are high waisted and fit well. I got black, dark blue and a ligher blue for the summer. All wash well and seem not to get baggier in the day! They were £19 but I got them on a 3 for 2 offer. You can get first custmer discount codes as well which give you £10 off.

i am 5ft 1 and get jeans from
next
gap ( when short length used to be 29 inch- booo 31 inch now )
topshop sometimes
g star raw- (the best ones but v.v. expensive)

FanjolinaJolie · 01/01/2010 12:27

I buy from Primark for £8 then take to the tailor so all up still under £20 and the exact length I need.

purplepeony · 01/01/2010 13:50

don't you find that short legged jeans are also short "rise" too though? I have very slightly shorter legs than normal, but any petite jeans are too short in the crotch and barely cover my bits- NEXT especially.

upafrozenhill · 01/01/2010 14:00

The John Rocha at Debenehams jeans in petite are great and round about £40.

Ineedsomesleep · 02/01/2010 12:18

rimmer08 thanks but don't think much of next jeans, they just wear out too quickly.

Also, Gap couldn't get a pair to fit me. They start at 30" which just isn't petite imo.

And G Raw, think they may be a bit too far out of my budget.....

I am a 5'2 hourglass-ish and tried some in Gap today - 28 waist (said they were a size 10) and 30 inch straight leg. They fitted perfectly but were so low-rise that I just couldn't go there. Today I am wearing New Look Hula ones, which were a tenner and I think are a 28' leg. They do look very boxy though.

Principles used to be good.

I had some of the cheapo M&S ones but they were hideous - too big on the waist.

Would really like some straight leg ones: might look in Monsoon as I've never tried their jeans.

JaneiteIsTrite · 02/01/2010 15:09

Oh and my Next ones are far too big on the waist too.
