I have accepted that I have to return my hunter wellies, so have a bugdget of about £60 I think.

I am in my wellies every day for at least an hour at weekends sometimes all day. They need to be good quality therefore and last.

They need to have good grips and be comfortable.

My self esteem at present too low to measure my offending calves but I will do.

I am large of calf too Twinkle but sadly didn't have the intelligence to return my lovely lilac hunters. I shall watch this with interest.

Twinkleandpearls · 22/12/2009 15:43

I did havw the usual thought about slimming into them but I will return them.

DD has some rather fabulous gold hunters, I am trying not to be envious.

[http://www.jileon.com/wide_fit_wellies.html here]]

My calves are huge, and these have plenty of extra room and are very comfy!!

cordonbleugh · 22/12/2009 15:46

here even!

LostGirl · 22/12/2009 15:47

Did you have huntERS? The HuntRESS wellies are much wider in the calf.

BunnyLebowski · 22/12/2009 15:48

Have nothing practical to offer but I read your title as

Beef wellingtons for women with large calves

Twinkleandpearls · 22/12/2009 15:49

Yes to my shame I had huntress ones and they were massive around the bottom of my legg and too tight at the top. I could get them on but they looked daft. They were also to short in the leg despite the fact I have very short and fat legs.

Off to drown my sorrows.

I love beef wellington, that may be part of the problem.

Twinkleandpearls · 22/12/2009 15:52

cordon they look wide enough, I was hoping for some plain wellies though, but have bookmarked,

men's ones if you can get your size.
I can't wear ladies wellies and I didnt even think I had big legs until I tried on every lady welly in the country.
Am now wearing mens wellies - standard issue green and I can tuck my trousers in so am happy.

Twinkleandpearls · 22/12/2009 15:56

Tennis, the wellies I wear now are mens, are mens hunter wellies wider fiting. That way I can do a straight exchange.

I bet they don't do my size though - 6.

At the moment I have some size 7 mens wellies and they are too big on my feet.

I have the same problem. Tried the Boden ones - hopeless. Twinkle are you twinset btw?

notwavingjustironing · 22/12/2009 15:58

Bunny - me too for beef

Twinkleandpearls · 22/12/2009 15:59

Yes I am fimbow

I didn't even try with Boden as I knew they wouldn't fit. I need to eat less.

You sold your house eventually didn't you? Hope you are doing well.

LostGirl · 22/12/2009 16:02

HAve you tried the Argyll ones instead, they are made by Hunters here, my husband has them and they are much wider than huntress

Twinkleandpearls · 22/12/2009 16:02

Yes we sold the house a while ago, July I think. We got much less for it that we hoped, decided to use the money to clear off every penny of debt and then start saving again to buy probably in about 2 years.

I am great, thankyou for asking.

Thanks lostgirl, someone mentioned Argyll ones at dd stable.

OP posts:
Twinkleandpearls · 22/12/2009 16:04

They are cheaper as well, I could get dp a pair as well. Thanks Argyll will see if I can see some measurements.

LostGirl · 22/12/2009 16:05

Sorry, I linked to the ladies one instead of the mens.

Twinkleandpearls · 22/12/2009 16:06

No worries I went to the mens, thanks

I've got these www.jileon.com/dunlop_half_boot_wellies.html. They're not very glamorous but even I can get my trousers inside them. Mine were £5.99 from my local country/everything shop. I'd love some fancy patterned ones but I'm not paying £45!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 22/12/2009 17:30

I have Aigle ones.

JamInMyWellies · 22/12/2009 17:33

get regular hunters the huntress ones are stupudly narrow. I have the hunter neoprene ones and can get my policewomens calves jeans and wellie socks in no problem.

FabIsGettingReadyForXmas · 22/12/2009 17:37

Mine were £15 from Homebase and fit on my right leg but not my left .
