Right, I need some non-foundation wearers to join me in a little experiment

So having realised everyone wears foundation everyday I think it is time to give it a proper go....

I thought I would wear it everyday for a week and see if anyone magically says 'you are looking well TMAM'. If they don't notice, I shan't continue

Anyone else want to join me? I shall be using Clinique Barely There spf 15

I never wear foundation - can't bear the feel of it on my skin. I recently got married; however, and, after some consultation on here, went to try some Chantecaille Just Skin Tinted Moisturiser. It's expensive (around £50) but when I tried it on in the shop she put some on half my face first and I was stunned at the difference. I wore it on my wedding day and my skin looked wonderful - all blotches and lines miraculously disappeared - I looked younger! I now wear it for all special occasions.

Good luck with the experiment!

So at the end of Day 2, I feel more comfortable in wearing my slime. I will remember to take it off tonight. I've seen quite a lot of people today, and any reaction? Nope.

Tell me, if I have been wearing it all day then am planning to go out in the evening, do you remove and start again or just slap more on, on the top?

I've been watching this thread with interest as I've recently started wearing make up everyday again, after a long while of not bothering. I just wear foundation, blusher and mascara, and yes, I've had a few positive comments although now that people have got used to it the comments have died down...

As for removing make up, the oil cleansing method is great. The problem I have with wipes is that they are not very environmentally-friendly...

KristinaM · 10/11/2009 20:04

today i put on tinted moisturiser as promised. it looked so weird and pink that i took it off almost straight away. i was wearing red and my face looked so weird. even my hair suddenly looked the WRONG colour

there is obviously something wrong with the colour of my skin

AvengingGerbil · 11/11/2009 10:57

OK, I finally remembered to put on foundation. It is a small tube of clinique that they gave away with skincare products a while ago.

I used a spongy thing to spread it about. Is that right? And what do you do about where you stop? Made-up face only? Neck as well? What about the chest area (wearing a v-neck top). Should I be covering everything or do I just stop at the edge of the face (weird)? Or have a demarcation line?

Novices need help!!!!

(Going out now - if people mock, I'll know I got it wrong!)

hatwoman · 11/11/2009 11:18

inspired by this thread I have tinted moisturiser on today. totally pointless as I'm working from home. dh isn't even here. and I doubt the dog will notice. the cat might.

I will be doing school pick up at 3.30 and Brownies later on.

But for me it will be the mascara that makes the difference.

Also, I was thinking about the scientific basis of this experiment - what counts as foundation? shouldn't all face-based products be included (ie powder and touche-eclat type things)? or is it quite literally just foundation. I need to know so that I can do my own experiment.

Themasterandmargaritas · 11/11/2009 14:06

I have no idea avenging. I think the idea is that it blends into your skin tone so not too obvious where it starts.

Hattie, I think to be rigorous and true to our testing we mean face make up in some kind of liquid form.

So day 3 and I feel strangely normal Not too shiny today even though it is hot. Noone has noticed yet though. However I feel I have had a slight make up ephiphany as I bought some dodgy quality eyeshadow today in lurid yoof colours.

Am I having a mid life crisis?

OP posts:
Themasterandmargaritas · 11/11/2009 14:07

or rather epiphany

Feelingoptimistic · 11/11/2009 14:23

Avenging - you can't just use a tube of something that you have given as a sample ! It has to match your skin type and tone - otherwise it will look terrible. The whole point of foundation or tinted moisturiser is that you can't actually see it - there should be no line. Ideally no one should be able to tell that you are wearing it.

hatwoman · 11/11/2009 15:15

I bought some lurid yoof eyeshadow a year or so ago. It was green and it's primary use has been for smearing all over dd's face for when she dressed up as a pond (don't ask) and a witch.

Themasterandmargaritas · 11/11/2009 15:34

That's the exact shade of green this one has too

OP posts:
KristinaM · 11/11/2009 16:43

so why is my face pink?

AvengingGerbil · 11/11/2009 16:57

Well, FeelingOptimistic, I clearly CAN just use the sample! It's not as if it is orange or anything. In fact, it is pretty bland except for the joining up problem - the skin on my face is not the same colour as the skin on my neck/chest (the latter is much bluer whiter)

If the stuff is supposed to be invisible, what is the point of it???

(I should add, no-one pointed at me and laughed, but equally, no-one said anything at all. I'll report later on whether DH notices.)

Tortington · 11/11/2009 16:59

shall watch with intrest, i find it makes me look olderm and it makes my wrinkly bits more wrinkly. It also shows my pores and makes me look like a blotchy old hag from dynasty

Themasterandmargaritas · 11/11/2009 17:03

Custy, I always had this vision of you as a youthful maiden, with pale unblemished skin and flowing locks of chestnut brown.

Obviously I was wrong.

OP posts:
Tortington · 11/11/2009 17:08

yes indeed v. wrong! wrinkley old bag more like it

Gracie123 · 11/11/2009 17:08

I just tried a sample of Colouradapt that came free with my easyliving a few months ago. Have to say, it's fab! Much better match than anything else I have wasted my money on over the years.

This might be the one foundation that converts me to wearing make-up in the day...

AvengingGerbil · 12/11/2009 09:21

Well, Master, I'm sorry but I'm quitting the experiment. Not only did no-one notice, but I've had streaming eyes all night and this morning in what feels like my standard allergic reaction to (eg) perfume and stuff. And I was using Clinique, which is supposed to be good for allergy-types!

I shall have to revert to my usual uncovered English Rose complexion (ha!)...

Themasterandmargaritas · 13/11/2009 21:43

You are all pants you guinea pigs. In fact I gave up dotay and decided it doesn't matter after serveral galsse of whatever booze take syour fancy ( I blame it on the champagne this time), everyone looks lovely.
