I'm having a "permanent" or Brazilian blow dry tomorrow and I can't wait!

It sounds too good to be true. Silky, smooth manageable hair that looks loads healthier for about 3 months. It costs £145 which is more than I've ever spent on my hair in my life .

Just feeling excited (and a bit nervous) and wanted to tell everyone

Anyone else had it done?

Do people really spend that much styling their pubes? Go down to the gym and dry it there love, much cheaper

potatofactory · 28/10/2009 20:02
  • at all aspects.
Naetha · 28/10/2009 20:05

Oooh let me know how it goes - FYI it's not done on your pubes!

It's a permanent blow-dry straightening procedure.

I'm seriously SERIOUSLY considering this.

RamblingRosa · 28/10/2009 20:05

Ha ha!

What are you at potato factory? Price?

I think it's silly to get a permanent procedure for the sake of a fashion. If in 2 years time the fashion changes and suddenly curly hair is all the rage, you will be pissed off that you spent so much money on making yourself unfashionable.

But good luck with it anyway, each to his own and all that.

sweetgrapes · 28/10/2009 20:06

It's a hair straightening style from Brazil. Nothing to do with pubes

seeyounexttues · 28/10/2009 20:07

lol I read 'permanent Brazilian' thought you might be getting laser treatment 'down there'!

I still thought you were doing that when I read your post and were boasting about having smooth manageable pubes for 3 months lol

HerBewitcheditude · 28/10/2009 20:07

I assumed pubes as well because of the Brazilian bit and just assumed it was a troll tbh. Until I read the post that made it clear that it wasn't pubes!

stakethroughtheheartofgold · 28/10/2009 20:08

ha! so i'm not the only one thinking this

Heated · 28/10/2009 20:09

Thank God for that! Was trying not to picture why RR wanted smooth manageable pubic hair!

LaurieScaryCake · 28/10/2009 20:09

it's not an actual permanent procedure

on account of hair growing

RamblingRosa · 28/10/2009 20:12

Definitely NOT pubes. Just to be clear!

And I know it's not permanent. They call it permanent but it actually lasts 3 months. So it's not forever. As Laurie points out...hair grows

I'm 37 weeks pregnant and might see if I can get it done in the next week or so. My hair is horrendous normally, so even if it wasn't GHD smooth it would be a massive improvement, not to mention much easier to manage in the newborn weeks.

Have you looked into any of the other semi-permanent straightening options?

Also can you get the Brazilian blow-dry with coloured hair?

thatsnotmymonster · 28/10/2009 20:18

Lol at the really weird responses!

I knew it wasn't pubes- I meant that would be mad and as for HerBewitcheditude it only lasts for 3 months ish- what are you talking about, lol.

Sounds fab! I would consider it if it actually worked- let me know!!!

ib · 28/10/2009 20:19

I had the yuko one done, which lasts a bit longer, and would have carried on doing it twice a year despite the staggering cost.

Not confident about doing it while pg or bf, however, so haven't had it for the last 3 ys, but as soon as the next one is weaned...

Doodleydoo · 28/10/2009 20:23

Ooh I want it now! I hate having to dry my hair and usually it ends up frizzing regardless! Looks good, and I know women who spend that on their highlights!

StrictlyAvadaKedavraarrrrghhhh · 28/10/2009 20:30

Pic on link looks like she just stuck her wet head out the car window and drove very fast - surely there has to be a better example to show us than that?!

themumfromdelmonte · 28/10/2009 20:34

I've had it done. Didn't last three months for me. Nowhere near.

Not sure I'd have it done when pg as it's quite a strong smell and I'd be worried about inhaling it. Although I think it's meant to be natural - worth checking whether it's ok when pg at least.

HerBewitcheditude · 28/10/2009 20:44

Oh sorry, I thought permanent meant er, permanent.

My mistake.

thatsnotmymonster · 28/10/2009 20:50

Yes the pic on the link looks terrible I actually thought that was the before picture! I would really like to see the before picture- must've been blardy awful!

Not very inspiring- unless being dragged through a hedge backwards is the look to aspire too.

Heated · 28/10/2009 20:57

Was scanning down the article for the 'after' picture, but that's it isn't it, the picture at the top? Would dearly like to see the before picture.

scariboo · 28/10/2009 20:59

Odd. I have permanents to make my hair curly and then straighten it with a blow-dryer. A phenomenal waste of time and money. I have lots of very, very thin hair - too thin for extensions. It's a permanent problem (ho-ho).

HerBewitcheditude · 28/10/2009 21:00

LOL scariboo, why do you do that?

Do perms work nowadays? Or do they still make your hair go frizzy?

scariboo · 28/10/2009 21:10

If I had Audrey Hepburn's bone structure, for example, I wouldn't need to. But thin hair on moon face is not a good look
