I'm having a "permanent" or Brazilian blow dry tomorrow and I can't wait!

It sounds too good to be true. Silky, smooth manageable hair that looks loads healthier for about 3 months. It costs £145 which is more than I've ever spent on my hair in my life .

Just feeling excited (and a bit nervous) and wanted to tell everyone

Anyone else had it done?

Yes, I too want to know how long it lasts before you start having bad hair days

thanks for the update, glad you like your hair now

RamblingRosa · 02/11/2009 12:39

I'll keep you posted.

The hairdresser said that some people make it last 4 months (by not washing their hair very often!) but other people find it lasts 2-3 months.

I have had this done for over a year and it has changed my life. For the first time ever, I actually like my hair.

RamblingRosa · 02/11/2009 14:14

Talbot that's so good to hear! That's exactly how I feel about my hair.

How long does it last for you?

I can just about get it to 4 but that is by washing less frequently than I would like. If I wash it every 2 - 3 days, it lasts about 3 months. Just make sure you use the sodium chloride shampoo and conditioner that keratin recommend.

As well as the appearance of my hair being improved, the condition is also SO much better.

RamblingRosa · 04/11/2009 09:14

I'm not sure I can wash mine any less frequently than every 3 days.

does it make a difference to how long it lasts if you blow dry/straighten it or if you just leave it to dry naturally?

My hair condition seems lovely too.

BTW, I got Glamour magazine yesterday and there was a 25% off voucher for a Brazilian blow dry at a salon in Bucks. Nowhere near me but if anyone else is interested I could send it to them.

This sounds fantastic as I have that natural birds nest too,a total frizzy mess and if I can control that it would be a total dream. I'm in Basingstoke Hampshire, I don't suppose you know anywhere other than London that does this Brazilian Blow Dry ?

Hey there
The one in Dublin takes 3 hours minimum and lasts as you say for about 13 weeks.

They basically use lots of keratin and other smothing and conditioning treatments to make your hair super sleek.

Then no water or sweating (gym) for 3 days.

At the end of 13 weeks you get a complimentary style.

but it is much more expensive than price you quoted!

A small word of warning: beauty editor Helen Brown, Edwina Ings-Chambers? predecessor at the the Sunday Times Style magazine, wrote about her experiences with the Hersheson treatment last September. After an initial positive start, she found her hair felt lifeless and lank as the weeks wore on. As Brown points out, even though this treatment contains natural ingredients, it?s still a chemical process, and can cause harm to hair.

Just a fyi also

I have hair exactly like you RamblingRosa, very puffy in its natural state. This sounds fantastic and it would save so much time fighting with my hair. I am keen to find out where you had this done - can you give a contact number?

Rohey · 27/11/2009 13:36

RR just wanted to know how colouring your hair - home kit - would effect the straightening or is it not recommended???

I have stray grey hairs at the front!!
